Speculations Most likely BB is aware that Aokiji will betray him but is playing along

I think BB is skeptic even about Shiryu as he did bring Shiryu up when Burger showed dissatisfaction regarding trusting Kuzan

So, yeah I don't think BB trust kuzan but BB will still get backstabbed by him - because Teach is over confident and careless

It could be the case.
However it looks like Teach has a very twisted and weird understanding of human feelings and relationships.

The dude was legitimately clueless about Ace being here for a vengeance, to avenge Thatch, when he confronted him on Banaro Island, until Ace attacked him. And later did the same with Moria right after killing Absalom.

And that's not counting the fact that he recruited the most twisted and untrustworthy criminals of Impel Down into his crew, based on strength alone which is basically an invitation for them to betray or abandon him should things go badly for him.

That's more to do with his personality changes

Sometimes he runs like a coward and other times he takes step like coming to MF and going against Navy + WB Crew.

Since Teach seems to have Luffy's traits but wicked, I could see the scenario where he's as gullible as Luffy regarding people but since he's a piece of shit he lacks the human factor that allows Luffy to make friends.

So he trusts everybody but, unlike Luffy, people don't trust him back; and that may be his perdition (apart from being careless yet having a fruit that will destroy the land you're on if not used with a cold head...).

Maybe it’s a give and take relationship, Kuzan agrees to doing certain things for the crew to carry his weight but certain things he’ll refuse to participate in. Blackbeard is definitely waiting for Kuzan to cross the line, probably believes in the worst case scenario he and the other captains can and will defeat him, but as long as there’s no funny business and Kuzan actually helps out especially when it comes to offering strength it’s all good. Blackbeard plays it safe but he can also be risky, the prize gotta be worth it. I do think ultimately they want to reach the same place, laugh tale, so I actually don’t believe a betrayal will happen which is the actual shocking part.

Some folks here already said it, Teach still doesn't trust Aokiji and Aokiji is most likely working under the Marines or his own objectives and that's why he will betray Teach once their goals start colliding against each others.

It's said Teach never sleeps. And it's also well known that he is connected to #3. So perhaps his three personalities take turn sleeping. Thus Teach never sleeps but his distinct personalities does. In a 24 hour+ battle someone perceptive might understand that there is

8 hours coward Teach
8 hours bold Teach
8 hours ... Teach

I think BB only "trusts" his og crew members we saw in the Jaya arc. And by trust I mean he doesn't expect them to be planning against him.

Those he got in Impel Down are with him just because he managed to get his 2nd DF, as it was stated in MF when he disappeard beneath the curtain to suck off WB. Idk who it was but one of them said that they would disband really fast if the scheme doesn't work out

Pizarro even suggested he takes leadership after Teach got rejected by Bonney

Not true at all. Bb knew exactly why Ace was there. Ace said that Teach knew exactly why he was there (to kill him) and Teach acknowledged it. (In viz teach simply says “yeah…”)

“ Ace: Let's skip the pointless act, Teach. You've been around TWICE as long; you know what my being here means.
Blackbeard: All right. Fine... Let me just say one thing, then. Ace!! Will you join my crew?!!”

Augur was also the first to attack. Not Ace. Everyone present knew exactly what was about to go down.

Teach lives dangerously but he’s aware of the risk. Even after the timeskip, he didn’t trust shiryuu. For his goals, he needed to quickly assemble the strongest, most dangerous crew possible. Impel down was the best avenue.

Kuzan is likely another marriage of convenience. Both of them are likely planning to backstab the other, both expect it.

It's a temporary alliance, now that Teach has a former admiral in his crew they can molly wop red haired pirates comfortably now
That didn’t happen when it was a three-for-all at MF. Shanks and crew never sweated. The other two camps well…

I am not sure how BB’s crew will curb stomp Shanks and crew unless something tricky happens that BB is clearly unable intelligence-wise to set up. OTOH, Aokiji has the brains to be able to plan such an event. We shall see.
