Questions & Mysteries Most wasted character potential?

#43
Wyper has a proper arc, properly utilized. From against foreigners to cocky pro-active against Enel, even killing him, to accepting the SHs as the carriers of his people's will. There is not one panel with Wyper that is wasted, not one more scene with him necessary.

Only somehow? Fuck off now.
Deal with wyper eventhough he was well written in power wise lacks a little he had potential to be more stronger than he was he should have got armament and coc he was introduced too early in the story don't know if loda will focus on skypia habitants again
And well my point with smoker is that I still have hopes for him just a badass introduction and badass moments but in post TS he was lacked behind because loda only focused on coby ig for been more related with the MC

2 of those are dead one being a flashback person

Smoker has time to shine still

I agree with Smoothie someone said already
Normal Vice admirals have been pretty trash in how they show up

Meadows was underused too

Arguably it's Zoro. This character isn't exactly one would think of as a character with wasted potential, but when you consider the amount of undiscovered connections Zoro could of had and relationships he does have that went on explored, I find it rather unfortunate how flat of a character Zoro came to be after so long. We still have no clue why he wants to be the strongest swordsman.

The thing is, Dragon is in a similar position to Law or Kid in that he can never achieve his goals because Luffy is the one who is supposed to fulfill them.

Mihawk at least already became WSSM
Well true but maybe Dragons goal was never to be the liberator but to wait for an actual liberator (like literally 99% of One Piece world).

I like Zoro cuz he's away from all that nonsense..gives zero fucks of liberation or not.

He can be a big support at best

Nobody’s mentioning dragon

bro did nothing for over 1000+ chapters
I already knew Dragon wasn't HIM when we saw him drinking tea on Okama Island while Sabo and his other commanders were sticking their necks out to fulfill Dragon's shitty mission. Rather than wasted potential, Dragon's existence is a waste of thought.

It's hard for me to think of a character whose potential has been ruined and has been treated as awfully as Big Mom, especially during Wano arc, with Oda bringing her in an arc in which she shouldn't have been only to keeping clowning, nerfing her and treating her atrociously with that retarded waterfall issue, amnesia plot and everything that happened to her at Onigashima in an incredibly poor excuse to remove her as an antagonist. The story being now in Elbaf, with which she has so many and strong ties, only reinforces my bitterness about Oda's writing of her.

Tashigi has been treated and wasted horribly as well during Punk Hazard arc, with her keeping losing, being humiliated and needing to be rescued by stronger men with her needing Zoro's help to finish Monet off, her being relagated to a babysitter for Punk Hazard's children after, and her doing nothing as part of Garp's team on Beehive. She could have been far far more, and it really saddens me to see what little Oda has done with her.

Speaking of BM, it's hard to not also think about Charlotte Smoothie who did almost nothing during Whole Cake Island arc aside from some splash attacks and being absent from all onscreen action and not displaying her real power. And that terrible trend continued in Wano where Oda once again, and even more, didn't do anything with her, with him using the aforementioned retarded waterfall issue as an excuse to keep her in limbo. It's jarring how a video game, Pirate Warriors 4, did a lightyears better job at using her and showcasing her power than Oda ever has and ever will in the manga.

And since we are in Elbaf I couldn't not mention Usopp who, aside from during Dressrosa arc where he has some of his brightest moments, didn't do anything since the timeskip and even regressed as a character, with him having yet to do anything in Elbaf arc, which was supposed to be his arc finally.

Oh and special mention for Apoo and Hawkins during Wano arc, with them being relegated to mook commanders in Kaido's crew, whose powers with amazing potential were wasted, and them being anticlimatically defeated.

And how I could forget Toki. She came directly from the Void Century and thus must have some priceless knowledge of the world at this time, even the culture shock of her visiting an entirely different world would be interesting, and she could have been written as an interesting and strong woman. Instead she's reduced to Oden's wife and a time travel device.

I do have a soft spot for her, she's a character I do relate to to some degree, with her niceness, absent-mindness and clumsiness. It saddens me how powerless Oda insisted making her, and how even her unique dynamic with Zoro has been neglected since the timeskip.
Tbf she is a side character unlike SHs or important arc villains like BM. Given how many side characters oda creates , giving all of them equal focus is hard. Though I agree oda could have shown her in better light during beehive fight. Even Kujaku and gruss did more than her.
