He performed to his standards roughly

There's nothing he could've done to win them this series

It happens
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

-2nd rd sweep in the East
-Never made the ECF in the East

"It happens" oh trust me it happens a lot when it comes to Embiid, that was my point.

He's a 7+ footer with a long injury history. I know people like to laugh and joke but almost every playoff failure he has is tied to his injury history rather than choking (not to say he's never choked lol)

This postseason he put his body on the line and punted an Eastern Conference finalist contender in the Celtics. I don't even like Embiid but I gotta give him credit for that

He's cooked now though, his career is finished prob

This is the East we're talking about brother, he lost to a Trae Young led Hawks team up 3-1 with more talent on his side. Even Demar Derozan was taking Raps to the ECF.

his 3 yr ~$180M extension kicks in after this season... ☠️

this was a gap year for the Celtics that turned better than expected with Jaylen Brown and their rookies playing well (and sadly not getting much playing time in the playoffs). Tatum would have had another season ending injury if he had kept playing after G6, especially if it was going to be against the Knicks

That's why I didn't say he's never choked, but everyone has years where they fail to meet expectations even with a stacked team. Lebron and the Heat shit their pants to Dirk in 2011, no one brings up MJ and the Bulls having piss running down their leg up against the Magic in 1995

A big part of the playoffs is luck and consistency. I'd bet almost anything I own that if Embiid is healthy every year of his career he makes at least one ECF if not the finals

To me the only MVP that people can fairly critique for having 0 playoff success is Russ. Dude held the reigns for the Thunder for years and never made it past the first round with little to no injury excuses

Still a great player though

Bro....he never made an ECF in his entire career. I don't think you're grasping how bum of a feat that is. Maybe the bummiest feat of any star of the modern era.

I don't think the Sixers are a better team by any means but they did have a pretty crazy comeback against a stacked team on paper

Jaylen Brown, (injured) Tatum, Derrick White (call him Casper in the playoffs cause he didn't show up), Payton Pritchard

His best chance was when he was up 3-1 over Trae Young's hawks lmao. An absolute trash team.
Despite Trae's remaining stint with the Hawks being mediocre, he was pretty elusive in the 2021 playoffs against the Knicks/76ers and played pretty admirably in the ECF against the Bucks.

I rate 2018-19 higher because Embiid had a prime Jimmy Butler as his 2nd option (who went off the following season with the Heat) and a really solid bench. Imo they would have made the Finals that year had they prevailed over the Raptors.

In 2020-21, Ben Simmons eventually disappeared and his only other scoring option was Tobias Harris (who they should have let walk over Jimmy Butler)

Russ at the very least was playing in the West basically his entire career. And his OKC rosters post KD weren't even that good. Embiid has always had talent relative to the East.

Embiid still has the bummiest feat.
His rosters weren't even that good?

Prime Paul George was one of the best second options you could ask for

The year they got bounced by Dame in the first round PG was 3rd in MVP voting and made All NBA First Team while outplaying Russ the entire series

Embiid's never had a 2nd option that's a fraction as good as PG was that year
