I won't deny that it's possible, and I certainly wouldn't be opposed. Kuma's backstory in the chapter really hit for me. However I still think it's more likely that Kuma dies at Egghead Island and that Bonney joins the crew and Vivi likely inherits Kuma's DF.

Ooh that's a good point! And Sea Cats are sacred in Alabasta too and Vivi respects them just as much, so cat features would suit her. Maybe the fruit's extra features manifest based on the user's favorite pawed animal.
