Bonney's goal is revenge against Saturn and the Celestial Dragons.

In order to join the Straw Hats, she would need to have proof that joining them would allow her to defeat them in the future.

NGL, if Kuma survives and we get a scene where Bonney joins, and Kuma tells Luffy he's entrusting him with his daughter, I will cry a lot. I think Bonney will visit Sky Islands with the Straw Hats in Elbaf, and then journey with Kuma to Fish-Man Island EOS.
But that’s not really how it’s worked for the others. Everyone else has joined luffy cause they believe in his dream and believe that through his dream theirs will come true as well.

Imo Bonney joining thinking “He’s Nika so he’ll fight the world government” means Bonney still hasn’t put her faith in who luffy is like the rest have.

Again, the person he’s actively attacking the CDs currently are the revs having just declared war against them. Joining luffy thinking the revs will fail and luffy will do the same later rather than just the revs doesn’t make much sense

Bonney was shown worshipping Nika with Kuma.

Bonney wanted Nika to save her.

If Luffy protects Kuma/Bonney on Egghead, then I think Bonney is definitely joining.

How can Bonney not believe in Luffy's dream, if Bonney spent her entire life wanting to meet Nika/Luffy?

Wanting to meet Nika, not wanting to meet Luffy. Nika is a god, Luffys fruit has the power of Nika.

Just like how Kaido isn’t the Seiryuu that the myths are based on, Luffy isn’t the Nika that those myths are based on either.

Not really. This thread was chaotic for a while… :emohiyo:
Oh yeah

Currently I wonder if Bonney's flashback will end up the same as Law's (pretty detailed and sad, but not necessarily leading to naksmaship) or if it will turn out to be something more.

How old is Bonney though? About 11?
I wonder how Tama fans will feel if Bonney joins for some reason...

This is a good point, but it seems like Luffy is meant to embody Nika in a way that Kaido wasn't for Seiryu. He has the exact same personality as what Kuma described.

If her goal is liberation, wouldn’t she fit better with the Revs? Luffys goal isn’t liberating people that’s just a secondary thing. Luffys goal is to be the king of the seas and freest man in the world.
This is a weird point given that Liberation/Equality of the Fishmen is Jinbei's goal. And the only reason Luffy ties into that is also prophecy.

No it doesn’t as Jinbe himself said the reason was that he believes if Luffy becomes king of the seas he’ll be able to help jinbe bring forth a time where fishman are not discriminated against. It wasn’t the prophecy or some liberation fruit it was specifically:
If the fishman were under the protection of the King of the Pirates no one would dare mess with them similar to how they were relatively safe during whitebeards era

So why exactly can't Bonney believe that Luffy has the means and power to liberate the world after seeing him do what no rev has ever done?

Like the framing could easily be the same.

Because again that has nothing to do with Bonney believing in luffys dream of being the pirate king which is the connection every straw hat has.

Luffy is NOT Nika. Luffy will never be Nika. Nika was a selfless hero, Luffy is not

This doesn't answer my point. I never said Bonney seeing Luffy as Nika. I said bonney seeing luffy as the person that has the strength to liberate everyone.

How is that functionally different from Jinbei believing Luffy has the ability to put Fishman Island under his protection?
