As of now there are not enough hints to support my claim, but I do need to say that Oda does still need to show me a fight between that person and that person, which will surprise me and which has a history behind it. All fights he did show us this year were either short lived or not that much surprising to me, to be honest.
And I know that Lucci is on the side of Vegapunk and his brother-like counterpart Shaka to protect them. I for myself could well imagine him blocking Kizaru from reaching the Sunny and sacraficing himself for the sake of escape.
Think about it for a moment: Their plan to escape is flawed. What are they going to do after the Coup de Burst? Kizaru can beam himself onto their ship even if they have brought a kilometre between him and them. Distance is not a problem for the admiral. He needs to be stopped for them to be able to escape. Either Luffy will sacrafice himself and not sail on the Sunny - which I think is impossible as main character or they will find another solution to distract Kizaru while they sail away.
I know it sounds strange now that Lucci has seemingly gone against the Stellar and stabbed Stussy. But he is a good guy and will join. I bet my avi for one month that he will join, you in?

I just notices something very interesting. At the same time it is very subtlly depicted by Oda, so I do not dare to make a thread out of it, yet. I will just mention it here, since this is related to the matter of the next crew member:
We all know how Stussy looks like a vampire with her sharp pointy canines and her bat-like wings.
She bit Lucci and Kaku at the same time yesterday in the story.
So, what makes me think is that Oda has in chapter 1091 given Kaku actually barely recognizable pointy canines as well. Look at the picture here:
Small, sharp and pointy. They weren't there in chapter 1071, when Kaku fought against Zolo.
Lucci has a pair as well, look:
(Maybe Oda told himself that we would not notice - but we did ).
I know that some of you will say that this is just a mistake with the paint. But I'm other opinion. For it to show subtly up with both characters this cannot be a coincident with the paint.
Lucci and Kaku were bitten by Stussy and have now, in my opinion, turned into true vampires (- and we might soon see a flying giraff in the near future).
Oda has given Kaku and Lucci a power up without us noticing! How cheeky!
Also, with Lucci that theme fits like a glove - the role as blood thirsty and sophisticated vampire fits him perfectly. Just imagine the flask of alcohol we see him sometimes consume exchanged with a bottle of blood. Fits as well. And he also sometimes licks the blood off his fingers during battle.
I am interested, if now, that Oda is turning Lucci into a vampire, he also will change his name from "Lucci" to "Lucifer" or not. It would fit the character even better. Because, remember: Lucci and Shaka are counterparts with one of their names refereing to Buddah and the other refering to Lucifer (Good and evil)
I wonder what else we are missing from the time-skip, if we already have an upgrade here.
I thought the thread died since the end of Onigashima lol.
A year ago, I thought Yamato would become the last nakama. I was so sure about it. I was wrong, and I have to admit I'm still a little bitter about it. Because I still think she was cool, even if her appearance was kind of too late. I was so convinced that Yamato was going to be the tenth member that I let myself down when I discovered that wasn't the case.
I still think there will be a tenth member. Because there must be a reason why Oda specified "10 members excluding Luffy". Maybe he was talking about Sunny. But if that's the case, it would still be a bit disappointing.
But if boats don't count, then it's maybe Vivi, because she's already a strawhat, just not a permanent one. But if Vivi don't count as well then... I don't know who will be that last member. And I don't think that I actually care anymore.
I don't want to repeat the same mistakes I made with Yamato, and get my hopes up for something that's never going to happen.
I love reading this thread. Even though I post very, very little on the forum and I will continue to read it. But I will no longer be influenced by the speculations from it.

The Yamato argument about being luffys “oden” was imo the right idea towards the last crewmate but wrong individual.
Sabo has been directly paralleled to Oden in wano and the two have similar stories. And with Sabos mission from the good king of Alabasta, it’s just a matter of time until Sabo follows luffys vivre card and join luffy.
I realised Yamato wasn't the right individual when she said that she had to explore the country first, whereas the real Oden left as soon as he had the chance.
A true strawhat will always choose the sea over the country in the end.
I'm fine with Sabo, but I'm not going to be too excited about it.
I mean... isn't Robin is the "Oden" of Luffy after all ?

Nah, Oden was more than just a Poneglyph reader. That was just the justification of why Oden was needed on Rogers crew.
Sabo and Oden share a lot of parallels and oda directly paralleled them in the scene of roger and luffy saying their dreams. But the character similarities are pretty interesting:
1. Children of nobility who abandoned their royalty in search of freedom and outlaw
2. Their family took in a stray after they left their family and that stray later became the ruler of their home country
3. They were both taken from their home country from a world class criminal
4. They later became the number two of that organization
Add this on to Sabos dream was to write a journal of his travels around the world (similar to Odens journal) and the mentioned dream scene of luffy and roger, Sabo has a good chance of being Luffys final crewmate.

Some people believed so hard, they acted upon it....
Some people thought they could say and be any personality because they were "right". One piece was 10x harder to enjoy around these angry people. This is all over now. The remaining are simply enjoying the flow of the story, althought there is still a hot topic here and there.

You summed up my thoughts and feelings on the nakama issue very well! I have the same idea, there should be +1, but who? Cannot see a good candidate right now. But to be honest, enjoying OP is easier now, without Wano mess and let downs, so let's read and see how it goes :)

Omg, I was convinced too (not as angry), but this is just f*cked up. It reminds me of the guy who got that horrible Gear 5 tattoo before it was colourised.

That's why I'm still reading this thread from time to time. It's really more enjoyable when your not too much involved about it, and I can enjoy the story more.
