I'll need to preface my post by saying im a staunch Zoro has always been First Mate believer and its apart of his character arc, since first telling Luffy he'd cut him down if he got in the way of his dream. This later evolved into "Nothing Happened". I believe another escalation will happen in the New World. The public already views him as such and color spread confirms his status as a Right Hand.
With that said.
The Loki arguments feel disingenuous again. Loki has been portrayed as a top tier? Why? Because he beat up all the Giants in Elbaf? It took Shanks to stop him? I'd argue Jinbe is portrayed as the strongest Fishman we have seen in the series and he joined. Former Shichibukai which was once a strength benchmark in the entire series.
If we leave that stuff out of it like we should have with Jinbe. I'd argue Loki has the most going for him in narrative weight in a current arc since the early east blue days. But since Yamato felt like a red herring, it seems a few of us are jaded on what Oda prioritizes when adding new crewmembers.
It's about the depth of bond with Luffy, and significance to the arc Luffy met them in. Yamato NEVER had that outside of dropping Ace or Oden's name.
Once upon a time people argued Jinbe wouldn't join because his flashback wasn't centered on him. And here we have Loki as our pov character into meeting Rocks. Who was foreshadowed. Like Loki was.

Disingenuous is saying the mf doing 5 year Big Mom feats as a baby and tanking a fall that adult Harjurdin admitted would have killed him, then proceeding to do the Kaido suicide feat as a child isn't more impressive than 60% of the Straw Hats weak and mid trio's entire career. Then you compare him to that bum Jinbei who's claim to fame was tying with Ace as a rookie, relegated to Walmart Rob Lucci in Wano, and now has been demoted to basically serving as a UPS delivery man.
Loki just on portrayal alone is miles above Jinbei and it's kinda disrespectful to say such a powerful entity should waste his potential with the Straw Hat bums who in their first big arc as an Emperor Crew couldn't even function properly as one. And need to get saved by plot even as a fucking Yonko crew.
Loki is a clear cut major ally for the final war, but not a SH. It does a great disservice to his character to downgrade him to a mere subordinate, look what happened to Jinbei. Why do people even want that?
And the wings will always be the #2 and #3 of the crew, you put Loki on the crew and then you have to elevate them to almost Yonko level, now tell me this makes sense. Tell me Zoro beats Mihawk right now lol, tell me you aren't indirectly upscaling tf out of fucking Shiryu and Laffite (or whoever tf fights Sanji).
Same song and dance every arc. People were so sure over Yamato and this feels exactly like that.
