I think she's more level-headed than Nami, and what with Nami's recent greed flanderization, having someone normal like Vivi on the crew again would be nice. Plus, her shortcomings could change if we see more of her. As for fighting skills, may have been pretty weak before the TS by Straw Hat standards, but she was still able to hold her own and become one of the top assassins in a vast league of bounty hunters.
If a hakiless bum like Croc can go from getting his ass handed to him by a hakiless east blue sea monkey with a little blood on his fists, to a sudden top tier facing Doffy and Whitebeard like nothing after LOda's asspull writing a few months in prison, I don't see why Vivi can't get something decent after two years. At the very least a DF should balance her out. Plus, her family line clearly is heavily tied to the story and Imu's origins now, and her country will not know peace from the WG until Imu is taken down.
Loki though seems like the better fit right now. The only problem is that he's so strong that all other Straw Hats beneath the M3 will seem irrelevant by comparison, especially Bumsopp and Product Placement Chopper who are just... there.

Most SHs bar M3 are already irrelevant as far as strength is concerned as oda didn't focus on their growth through decent fights at all.
As far as level headed and being normal are concerned then Vivi is definitely one of such person but we already have Jinbei
It's just Vivi doesn't interest me that much. Even during watching alabasta arc for the first time, I had the same opinion about her be it chemistry wise or personality wise or strength wise - Vivi doesn't bring anything unique on the table apart from being nice and good hearted.
Bonney was interesting character prior to egghead but then it all changed.
Reason I feel Loki is best fit is because so far he showed he brings something different - a character who is actually so strong that he can beat the shit out of any SH for real. And, he's cocky AF. This adds a new element to the chemistry within the crew which we never had it before.
Bonney was a favorable candidate for a long time. Mainly, because Oda kept having her ditch her crew, while it always seemed like she was just a step behind the Strawhats or a step ahead post timeskip. She'd be a perfect apprentice for the crew in her natural form and a clever potential successor to the spirit of who Luffy is, like Shanks was to Roger.
She just comes with too much baggage in the form of Kuma, who the moment he survived Egghead, just eliminated any potential of Bonney leaving with the crew. As far as I know she followed them to Elbaf and they're both completely irrelevant , unless Oda wants to use them both as a Trump card in a pinch against the Gods Knights in the clutch. Rn she's giving Carrot.
Wouldn't be surprised if she quickly becomes a Revolutionary commander at some point in honor of her Mom. That side of things should be getting their shine relatively soon considering we're dealing with the heads of the WG at this point.
Vivi doesn‘t bring anything to the table that she can’t do as a separate moving piece from the SHs, especially since she can’t fight. It makes sense narratively but unexciting, I’d rather have Loki or Yamatoe. I don’t even know her role going forward, Vivi can maybe get involved with Pluton, will also get some interaction with Imu… maybe.
People have more reason for Yamato to join considering how she's proficient with Conqueror's Haki enough to go up against Kaido. Even Gaban mentioned one has to be keen with Conqueror's in going up against the Holy Knights. They can't afford to have Yamato 1,000 miles away on some Fleet either, so backing up the crew against the black magic demon forces of Imu is more than welcome.
You mean like when Robin appeared last minute in Whiskey Peak and abruptly forced herself on the ship last minute in Alabasta as well? HA!
I didn't feel Yamato was shoehorned at all. Oda had Yamato do all she needed to do in that arc and is expanding on her life even now with the cover story. Oda also expanding on the lives of Bonney, Kuma, and now Loki, so clearly he still has time to also expand on Yamato's character further whenever he wants. Anyone who claims he's rushing are simply mistaken then.

Robin was a key presence as early as Whiskey Peak and played a major role throughout Alabasta. Her arc was slow-burn and deeply layered—her connection with Crocodile, her nihilistic worldview, and her eventual breakdown at Enies Lobby all gave weight to her joining. She earned her place as a Straw Hat through pain, vulnerability, and trust built over time.
Yamato, by contrast, appears near the very end of Wano and is immediately framed as Straw Hat material simply because she says she wants to travel with Luffy. There’s no comparable emotional depth, no gradual development, just cheap flashbacks with Ace and declarations. Sorry Miss Side Boob, but it feels unearned.
And sure, Oda can expand on her later—but that doesn’t change how forced her presence felt in the actual arc, especially compared to how masterfully Robin’s was handled.
