Character Discussion Oda might be foreshadowing something bout Sanji

So is this thread is you thinking Sanji will protect Bonney from Saturn through some awakening? I mean he kinda failed. But hey I won't knock you for believing:cheers:

While this scene was not mentioned in the latest chapter (although the context leads us to Kuma praising Luffy's crew anyways) it's completely understandable, since the weight of that scene is completely overshadowed by what actually draws the most attention which is Zoro taking the pain bubble and the afterwards with Sanji finding him and making sure no one finds out about it. Even then, the scene is there and that is a fact:

So, this might settle one of these two things:

-- Sanji's speech was a complete bluff, mostly only showcasing his kindness by trying to sacrifice himself instead of letting Zoro do it.

Or

-- Oda is building up the moment where this speech will come back sooner or later and be more meaningful.

It's not a reach to say we, the readers, didn't saw everything Bonney actually managed to see about Kuma's memories, mostly glimpses of it, there might be a lot of stuff that she saw that Oda hid from us on purpose, and that can come back in the future when the plot asks for it.

What drawed my attention in this case is Bonney praising Sanji some moment after she saw Kuma's memories

Notice how, apart from the compliments on Sanji, she says she doesn't wants to kill Vegapunk anymore, which indicates she changed her thoughts about who Vegapunk trully is and that certainly has to do with the fact she saw Kuma's memories, even more after the latest couple of chapters telling Kuma's backstory.

With the fact Oda is making Sanji worry so much about Bonney and even mentioning Kuma being her father, we have all the chess pieces ready for whatever Oda is planning here
I like it… Bonney calling him cool also fits the moment as it was a cool moment for him.

Everyone got the idea, you’re desperate.
Im not the one who, everytime he goes online, is always wasting his time on fandoms and threads he supposedly shouldn't care about, while trying his best to get some of their attention
:quest:

You should honestly rethink about what being desperate means.

I think if Sanji goes off on the marine fleet that would do it. The Bonney line is rather interesting and oda specifically skipping that part and showing the two moments surrounding it in the Kuma flashback just to show it later does fit his writing style.

Well need to see how egghead unfolds now that the straw hats need to actually win and can’t merely escape.

I like thriller bark moment because it shows the development of both zoro and sanji in different aspects.
Zoro, who once put his Dream above all else, was willing to sacrifice his life for Luffy. Something Mihawk mentioned.
Sanji, who once got stagnated and put his own dream aside, while questioning zoro about his, was willing to put his life on the line for Zoro to be able to reach his dream, and die for Luffy.
They both show loyalty in different aspects, but that's when the scene stops being about both of them and begins to be about zoro as first mate.
Be honest with yourself, with Luffy being some second coming of pirate Jesus Avatar, I find it quite hard to imagine a situation where sanji will be "the most dangerous member for the WG".
Dont diminish the importance of the moment for zoro, and also dont expect sanji to suddenly become a greater threat than Nika.
Afaik, its purely a bluff Sanji says on the spot in order to convince Kuma to take his life instead of Zoro's.
