Oda news interviews

#43
If we believe Oda then, only one of the following is possible:
  1. Blackbeard is the final villain and Marines/EG/Imu gets done in by Revolutionaries.
  2. Imu is the final villain and Blackbeard's arc will be significantly small.
Either way, Oda has to cut off one of them for the ~5 years timeline to work.

Since Imu was a late addition, I guess Imu will be axed.
Very unlikely. Blackbeard and the World governments role can't be walked over like that, this doesn't work story wise.

Blackbeard is Luffy's final obstacle to the OP, and the World government is basically the Main Main antagonist of the entire series.
The events of the ancient history is basically the main plot of this series, closely tied together with the treasure, proven by Roger reading about Joy boys life in Laugh tale.
If anything, Blackbeard and the WG can't be superseded and have fixed spots for the endgame.

Big mom, Elbaf and Shanks's plot lines are at risk here.

- Oda already brought Big mom to this arc to have her go down, while I'm confident that the original script wasn't planning that.
- Elbaf arc has very low chances now to be more than a transition arc like Zou.

Shanks's role is an absolute mystery at this point, but i don't see him getting wasted for the pacing.

I know that people don't like it, but i can already see how things will turn out.
Big mom will be defeated here in Wano, the news will be spread that Luffy took them down and this will give them a free pass into Elbaf, just like Zou. The last remaining poneglyph will likely be their as well.

Either Big Mom goes down in Wano as well or there's a relatively short fight between SHs and BMP post-Wano
Post automatically merged:

Final war has to be against the World Government. BB comes before that. But I do think BB will be the strongest foe Luffy fights
In a way Luffy's journey will mirror Roger's.

Roger had to defeat his strongest foe (Xebec) with help before reaching Laugh Tale and becoming PK.

It is not possible to give both Blackbeard and Imu enough time with the 5 (or if I am being generous, 6.5) years time limit.

So, either Blackbeard or Imu, one of them will get spotlight and another will fade in the background. Since Blackbeard has been built up since Jaya, I say that Imu is not gonna get his time.

I have said it before and i'm still certain this is what is going to happen when Wano's over and less than 4 years remain for OP. Oda was very fond of Vicky The Viking cartoon, he made Elbaf the strongest country in terms of military strength and kept it hidden until the endgame for a reason.

Elbaf is 100% going to be a mini-arc in which Strawhats (mainly Usopp) convince the giants to help them declare an all-out war against the World Government. Im is based on a Norse god who got destroyed by the Jotuun giants after all. And the giant strawhat in the champer of Pangaea further hints that Joy Boy was a giant and a direct enemy to Im and World Nobles in general so it would be ironic to see Im and the World Nobles getting destroyed by Joy Boy's race.

You can even picture how giants would climp the Red Line to attack Mary Geoise.

I think we have to remember by this stage Luffy will be pretty much around Yonko level, Zoro, Sanji, Jinbei will be Admiral level at the very least, so defeating enemies won't take as much build up towards the end.
