It's common sense that none of the Roger pirates are even close to Roger at all. That doesn't need to be explained. So oda saying "not anyone" pretty much means only Shanks can do it, unless said otherwise.

Yeah

Realistically it would only be Shanks, Ray and maybe Oden at a push who could do it anyway, but it would just confirm that the likes Crocus and Seagull couldn’t do it just because they are Roger Pirates.

(we also don’t know how good a translation it is as well, so maybe in Japanese it could come across more as a Shanks only thing.)

Roger is not just a solid top tier tho... He's one of the god tiers of this verse.

And shanks is supposed to be the middle gen Roger.

So if Ray can replicate this technique it will still be very rare even among top tiers.

That's not what oda said. He said not anyone in the Roger Pirates can replicate. It should be obvious to anyone that any roger pirate besides Ray and lolden are not even in the convo there. So oda saying not anyone means Ray and lolden also most likely can't.

He's the Dark King cause he was in Roger's shadow. It's an Epithet. That doesn't make him == Roger.




Shanks being above Ray is not a slight to Ray at all. Shanks is mid gen Roger. Ray was Roger's right hand. Not the same thing at all.
