General & Others Oda's One Shot fetish

The F5 have been good so far, let's keep it that way.

Which I'm totally cool with because a lot of the ones that travel been one shot aren't even done yet. We know Kanjuro/Apoo will get back up. We know, for the most part, Orochi probably survived. The F5 and Calamities are in good positions to not be one shot considering Luffy and Yamato hit Ulti hard and Luffy only temporarily knocked put Page 1. These guys have beefy recoveries and should have entertaining fights.

I am hoping for the potential Robin v. Black Maria fight, that one seems like it could be super good
To throw in another random guess, I think the some of the scabbards will get back up and fight Sasaki and Who's Who which I think it'll be Sasaki vs Denjiro Kinemon vs Who's Who, also i think Kanjuro and Orochi will have a plan to scheme against Kaido too, very interest development remains to be seen

This is a bad excuse, Oda had 100 chapters in Dressrossa. Literally zero reason for why the fights were so short
You asked a question and I gave you my honest answer, all this is IMO, not me saying that Oda does this. Im just speculating at this point.

Im also on the boat where Flashbacks are just a waste of time too.

Law flashback, Doffy Flashback, Oden, BM, Katakuri, Sanji flashback, probably 9 months of wasted time on those. All of this is just my opinion and those flashbacks I would rather have them be used on fights but that wont happen

Same reason Oda keeps drawing one shot fights is the same reason he keeps off screening fights. He is just not that good at drawing fights and he would rather progress the story I guess.
Hes pretty good at drawing fights man. Thats a terrible reason. He just doesn't make them hugely technical, but they are fantastically drawn.

The problem is pacing, hes gone over this. He doesn't like spending too long on bogus/fodder fights because of how many characters he has now.

Not sure if the scabbards will be getting back up anytime soon lol but sure we'll see. I dont think they are reserved for actual Kaido pirate fights. They had their moment for Kaido and gloriously failed, its good enough. There still is potentially more to see next chapter with them.

Yes, I do expect there to be some payoff for Sasaki/Denjiro, but I dont think its in a full blown fight sort of way. Franky is already standing in his way, and even if Sasaki wins at first, Oda is notorious for making Strawhats get back up and fight the same person again

Half the arc was dedicated to fights, you guys remember shit weird. The first 3rd was mostly Doflamingo vs. Law vs. Fuji and Colosseum fights with many different characters. The next 3rd were mostly skirmishes between many characters. The final 3rd mostly were finishing blows and a 10 chapter Luffy. V Doflamingo fight basically, not including the multitude of other chapters they fought.

The problem is, you are only counting the 1 chapter they went down in. Franky fought senor pink for like 5 chapters total when you add all of his stuff together. Same with Zoro and Pica. The other fights were super chaotic until it came down to the finishing blows/attacks which were given a chapter each.

Oda does not like drawing fights. I think he said that himself.
No he didn't. He said he does not have time to draw them out more than a chapter or two outside of Luffy's. You still get multiple chapters of fights for everyone else before THOSE chapters. He just mixes them between many other fights until he's ready to take them out.

Guys. Alabasta fights lasted 2 chapters each. So did all of East Blue, Skypiea and Enies Lobby and Thriller Bark and Dressrosa. The difference is, hes ALWAYS given Luffy 10+ chapter fights. Its ALWAYS been a Luffy bias. Its never changed. The only difference is, people seem to be noticing less that Oda will set up multiple fights 10-20 chapters prior, have them skirmish multiple times during this time, THEN dedicate a chapter or 2 to finishing them off.

Zoro vs. Pica was exactly this. So was Franky vs. Senor Pink. So was Zoro vs. Kaku. So was Luffy vs. Blueno. So was Sanji vs. Absalom. It hasn't changed st all.

Nobody complained about the Colosseum fights , if anything everyone was bummed out that Oda decided to stop focusing on it
I'm just saying, that was the first 30-40 chapters of Dressrosa. There was a shit ton of fighting in DR, what people don't get and seem to forget in general is that the 1-2 chapter dedicated fights has never changed in One Piece. There were alot more villains in DR than any other arc. This is only rivaled by Wano currently.

They weren't "short" fights. They've been relatively the same length as most other arcs. Luffy's fights gave been commensurate between each arc as well (10-15 chapter fights total).

Oda normally doesn't do the fully dedicated chapter fights like Bleach or DragonBall or MHA or Kingdom. He has non-action plot usually sprinkled into each or most of those chapters.

If he had more pages to work with. If he made a separate place showing the fights...
Lol sacrificing some amount of the fights just to abridge it to the end isn't exciting nor worthy of praise.
In fact Oda is hardly the kind to render his own masterpiece cheaper in order to satisfy time sparing demands. I think he is very good at portraying extensively long and rich narrative arcs without rendering the spectators bored. Well maybe WCI was an exception to the rule of the recent past, but it's my personal idea.

It's more personal preference, people complain about alot.
