Considering big reveals were made at 1,100 and 500, this is kinda disappointing. I like the sound of it but it's underwhelming even for oda

I don’t even think they knew what was in it. It was all just a push for sales and recognition. Volume 100 is going to be the big one, I believe chapters 1005-1014

I feel like this chapter was meant to reach out to the more casual demographic of Jump subscribers who are vaguely acquainted with parts of the series, like "oh this thing reached its 1000th chapter let me take a look at what's going on here"

and Oda has put all those easily recognizable aspects of the series in this chapter like Ace, Luffy kicking ass against big bad guy, Zoro with Luffy and Luffy's tagline at the end and heck even the title is Strawhat Luffy.

I think it's safe to assume this was Oda's rationale before working on this chapter.

100- Luffy grand line w/Dragon
500- Sabaody Human Shop w/Rayleigh
1000- New Gen vs resurrected Rocks

I think 1000 takes the cake
