Swords have definitively shown to be living things that zoro connects with. This is just simply a fact. Shown by the fact that sandai cut by itself.

What you are referring to is the effect of curse blades. They were specifically designed to operate that way so they would not be wielded by the weak. This was hinted/stated in chapter 955. So they aren't necessarily living
And coating a blade with haki should help fight against the devils fruit ability to control metal since it at least be implied to do so since kidd as of yet haven't tried actually taking big mom sword or kaido club using his devil fruit

Again the first point goes right back to the sword bearing the previous owners will. Hence the reason or need for zoro to bury the sword
Your second point is cap based on the fact that smoker literally negated laws room ability when tashigi could not based on his haki. So yes coating your self and your weapon with haki can negate certain affects of devil fruits.
