Those are all great moments that highlight who Sanji is as a character. Oda seems to be emphasizing Sanji's role as a support type fighter rather than a main fighter. Of course I don't think he will play a support role the whole arc. Oda still has to give him an opponent as well.

Luffy is supposed to be a full-fledged Yonko after Wano being able to fight on par with Shanks so he can't receive help from anyone

Actually making Yamato go to the roof is one way of Oda to introduce us Kaido and Yamato backstory their flashback you might say since we don't really know much about their background.

Besides the title of the chapter is called "itch" and Yamato has been itching for a fight so you really can't ignore that.
I still believed Luffy will be the one to finish of Kaido tho.

I should have said I always saw it as Sanji went through so much crap during WCI that it is good to see him being completely back to his old self and trusting Robin to defeat Black Maria. Also Sanji's trust made her smile and that is pure!

Kaido won't be dead.

Remember, Kaido has been beaten and captured several times before but nobody has been able to kill (execute) him. it doesn't matter which condition Kaido is in it still incredibly hard to kill him so Zoro killing Kaido will be a hung feat.

Besides, he's a zoan and if he has awakening, which I'm sure he will, he will possess impressive recovery powers. Kaido will still be in decent shape.
