I think Zoro fans want Zoro to be stronger than Luffy, not equal.

Though, right now Luffy is one power-up ahead of Zoro. So I'd say he's stronger than him.

I wouldn't mind if Oda went the "HxH exam" route with their interactions, where you have every SH matched up with a RH pirate and it's like a different challenge or test that ultimately trains the SH in a specific field.
