I don't think kaido was using haki at the end rather the dragon was eating luffy's punch

he was using haki why would not he? just chapters ago he was mentioning that haki is the best power. it is just neither his magma nor his haki was able to get through Luffy's haki combination.
you can say that Luffy's technique is better. Kaido's is for sure not a ryuo user since he was thinking of that technique as Oden's ryuo as he realized the scabbards were using the same haki technique.

he was using haki simultaneously and the first comment of the chapter was confirming it is a haki clash.

nope for this case his Dragon form was the best form , since only that way he could have coated himself with that magma fire + haki and at the end it was not enough Luffy's ryuo was better. Kaido's hybrid would have done nothing. no matter what he would not have resist such force.

Nah if hybrid form was his strongest form he would have stayed in hybrid to clash with the punch. His dragon form is his best form, especially with the flame susanoo

he can use any haki he want, why would not be able to use CoA or AdCoC in a dragon form?

why would they split the sky their clash was vertically not horizontally , the haki direction was not up-down.
it is different from the sky-splitting haki clashes
