I guess it was foreshadowed during his introduction that he and the 5 elders were just about finished trying to maintain the balance and were going to be more proactive in "cleaning the world up". Seems like Imu has Uranus and wants to wipe the two who have inherited the wills of Joy Boy and Xebec and also the two who he believes has connection to the other ancient weapons.

If the next island is Sphinx, he could have an important role there, but this Bonney stuff makes it less likely imo that they go to Sphinx now. Bonney did have some connection to Ace tho so maybe she can go to Sphinx too and visit his grave

Furthermore Wano is not affiliated with the WG so no one would care if they were nuked.

Wano is a crucial destination pirates have to reach in order to find the OP. Kaido actively suppressed any uprising pirate, helping Imu in the process.
We've been told forever but people just didn't wanna believe it. The Yonko have been nothing more than indirect workers of Imu. He/She tolerates their existence because they're useful for that.
