but Kizaru is the bigger threat. Because whereas Saturn’s main power is regen, Kizaru is made of light.

Hence while Saturn might beat Kizaru 1v1, Kizaru is the one guy the SHs will never be able to outrun, as he is a light man.

So in order to escape, Luffy must beat Kizaru

You are ignoring 2 obvious things: this is a shonen, Oda uses the "damsel in distress" narrative plot in every arc.

We currently have no damsel in distress. Everyone is trying to flee as the tension rises for a big culmination. I conclude from it that we still need one. But this is where the plot-twist after the fight between "[...] that person and that person [...]" can bring us. If that defector fights against the WG and the SHPs are able to flee with Vegapunk because of this, Oda can accomplish two things with it: Luffy can decide to turn around and go free the person, who has defected, because this person helped them - we are getting the damsel in distress and the fight between the VAs and the SHPs.

I don't know what you meant with applying to the fight between Luffy and Fujitora. COuld you define this more for me to understand?

Does character also take a back seat? Because that action makes luffy look incompetent. Went g5, exhausted himself, didn't permanently defeat lucci, didn't protect sentomaru, and allowed seraphim control to switch hands.

Oda doesn't have a gun to his head. He could show lufffys awakening like you said AND have him actually be competent.

It not like he tired out him self there ( luffy was back normal seconds later .)
They made it clear that they had to leave to save atlas and Sento send luffy away to protect VP.
It not like Luffy knew he had protect sento .
When sento show up with 3 seraphim and though he would get things done and was asking if luffy going save VP .
Also seraphim control to switching hands did not even matter and end up working agaist them since seraphim follow them without getting order and get taken control back by VP.
If anything lucci going up there with him , kaku and Stussy vs all the SH just show how stupid he was .
