Calm down.

Ned might not be on Jaime's level, but it doesn't mean he was a scrub by any means.
:pepestop:
He isnt a scrub ofc, but he is not at all hyped the way Jaime is.

Nah, most of Robert’s Kingsguard were trash. Only Barristan and Jaime were good
Agreed. Robert & Joffrey had clowns masquerading as Kingsguard.

Like Jaime told them, Arthur Dayne would slay 5 of them with his left hand while taking a piss with his right.

Anyone else notice these weird similarities between Jon, Daenerys, and Tyrion?

All 3 are the 3rd child in their family
All 3 had their mothers die giving birth to them
All 3 killed one of their lovers

I wonder if GRRM’s plan was to make them form an Azor Ahai trio. Aside from those similarities I mentioned, they are also the 3 de facto main characters. Not to mention the whole “the dragon has 3 heads” prophecy from the books. 2 of them are obviously Jon and Danny. I’ve heard people say that fAegon could be the 3rd head. It’d make sense since Targaryen blood is seemingly a requirement for becoming a dragonrider, but imo fAegon not being a POV character pretty much disqualifies him.

Jon didn't kill any of his lovers in the books, in fact his only lover so far is Ygritte.

I still hope in the books that Jon is Ashera and Neds son so he has a claim to Dawn

Maybe Tyrion was Aerys' bastard with Joanna after all.

Explains the hate Tywin had for him and his attitude regarding Tyrion's birth... "You're not mine, but I cannot prove it".

Pair it with Tyrion having dragon dreams, we might just get Tyrion on Viserion, Jon on Rhaegal & Dany on Drogon.

Some people claim that fAegon will be the 3rd head of the dragon from Rhaegar’s prophecy (aka the 3rd dragonrider after Jon and Danny). Imo this is very unlikely since fAegon isn’t even a POV character, so he won’t be given such narrative importance. Tyrion will be the 3rd head of the dragon somehow

It's obvious as hell that fAegon is a Blackfyre.

The support of Golden Company & the jet black hair is way too obvious to ignore.

I know, I agree. but you were comparing Ned with the rest of the scrubs on the Kingsguard. Aside from Jaime and Selmy, Ned could take any of the other ones, some quite easily even.

Also, considering when ASOIAF started until Jaime lost his hand, he could even take on old Selmy. :kayneshrug:

You have a bunch of contenders for that.

Jaime himself talks very highly of Dayne, Barristan and Gerold Hightower. And if you go further back, you have Duncan, Daemon Blackfyre, the Dragonknight etc,.

Personally, i think Arthur Dayne with Dawn is the ceiling.
Probably yes, at least not knowing about the "mythical" fighters who we really don't know like Azor Ahai/Last Hero or similar.

But ability wise Martin said Barristan vs Arthur without Dawn would be a tossup:

"When asked who would win in a duel, George R.R. Martin said that if Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy fought with any swords it would be a very even fight - but if Dayne was armed with his sword Dawn, he would narrowly have the advantage over Selmy."
Also, Martin said that Jaime Is one of the most talented swordsman in all Westeros' history, meaning 10.000 years (https://www.westeros.org/Citadel/SSM/Entry/MTV_Worldcon_Interview_Versus):

"Jaime as a fully functionning man is one of the great swordsmen in the history of Westeros"
So as far as base ability goes, Jaime, Barristan and Arthur are pretty there. One can make the case of each of them I think.
