O: Yes. Was the explanation about SWORD a bit complicated? In chapter 1080, Aokiji said "formal submission of documents" and "they can be disavowed at any time". This means, they entrusted their resignation but they are not disavowed yet. In the case of a Marine soldier getting caught and becoming a hostage, the Marines will acknowledge their resignation then and there and say "that guy is not a Marine soldier!" and forsake them. The ones who are fine with this, so they can fight as they please, are the Marine soldiers called "SWORD".

Now that Saturn has lost the other Gorosei, he may focus again on Kizaru and order him to go after the escaping Straw Hats

Kuzan doesn’t have to say it. You just have to use logic and understand how things work. Effectively speaking they are not marines in the eyes of the WG anymore and they don’t care about them. The only reason they are not cut off is because there is no benefit in doing it until it’s necessary. Koby’s dream is dumb and I think he has changed his mind after joining the Marines and seeing them for what they truly are.

Yo Man imagine if Mihawk was the actual final villain or had the relevancy of Joyboy, If hes already stronger then them as a side character he wouldve been broken if he wasnt a side character.
