to me, its specifically like when zoro talks about kitetsu being a problem child, or the flashback in wano about all swords having personalities. he's saying he won't hold Yoru back and let it attack on its own instead of controlling it

Finally, someone gets it! He was testing Luffy's fate against the will of Yoru. Swords in One Piece have a will of their own, they are almost like living beings.

Not to butt into you guys' conversation, but what lore has Weevil really given for WB? That he might have had sex with Stussy? Because that was really just Oda's way of tying Stussy into the plot for the Rocks crew, and to tie in their association together with MADS. But that could have been done, like, without Weevil in the story at all.
In fact, Weevil has provided virtually nothing contextually about WB that wasn't already extrapolated on with other historical events or people, like Rocks. He's completely useless as far as lore is concerned, I almost wonder if Oda had more planned for him and just shitcanned it.

I have as much hope in big Weevil lore dumps at this point as I do for Urouge actually being relevant.

WB's motivation and protectionism for Sphinx was already covered when Neko went to fetch Marco for Guano.

I'll give you that Weevil might be a plot mover, but lore wise he's a dud.
