I mean, I don't speak out of experience, I've been blessed with some good stats (height and facial features), just lost the genetic lottery in terms of hair loss and hence hopped on meds. But I have deep empathy with those who were not blessed with good looks, because, like it or not, life will suck. People can keep telling how shallow society is, but that's the way it is. Don't hate the player, hate the game. It's like a millionaire telling poor people money's not everything. We know money isn't everything and can't buy relationship and love, but it makes life hella easier.
