It's due to the original word. Japanese word for Pluto is 冥王星 which means dark king planet, it can also mean Hades/king of underworld/hell planet.

the whole god thing really threw this manga off course. I was fine with the sun god nika cuz it was an embodiment of freedom and it seem like oda was using the nika vs imu (devil) thing for freedom vs control . But now there is a rain god which means all the other gods mentioned are real .it no longer feels like a manga about pirates odas changed the genre of this story at least 3 times.
