This BB - Rocks theory is good. Why only the good guys get the inherited will? It is good, and even right, the bad guys get their inherited (evil) will too. A battle if ideals through the history, first Rocks with WB, Kaido and BM vs Garp and Roger now BB "with" Kaido and BM vs Luffy&friends.

Possibly. Xebec and Roger even mirrors Shanks and BB.

1. Rocks' Era
Rocks D. Xebec recruits psychos with his charisma and wants to destory the WG and take over the world. Pretty much he embodies control, not freedom. Roger who embodies freedom and probably had quite a bit Void Century knowledge at the time, knew he had to stop Rocks. He joined forces with Gatp and succeeded.

2. Roger's Era
Roger simply continues his journies and has Shiki as a thorn who wants to conquer the world(and a former Rocks pirate) Roger gets sick and cant do anymore. Near the end he tells WB about the Void Century and D clan.

3. Great Pirate Era(Stability)
WB chooses to rule without becoming PK with BB under his flag. BB decides to play smart and bid his time, with Shanks going out of his way to prevent BB, who is about control n' destruction just like Rocks Xebec, from rising to power(aka Roger wanting to stop Xebec) but he fails.

4. Worst Gen Era(Chaos)
BB successfully climbs in power while using his charisma to recruit more psychos, essentially skipping an era.

How would Roger have information on the Void Century, when he didn't go to Raftel a whole decade and half after?

1. BB's island is where the Rocks pirates formed.

2. BB has a lot of references to Xebec

3. BB was born 2 years after the Rocks were beaten.

4. BB has evil charisma and can recruit the worst of the worst(Luffy can recruit the best of the best). Rock's crew were said to be psychopaths who didnt get along and would even attack each other.

5. Unknown if Rocks D. Xebec died or not.

6. Unknown if Xebec directly influenced BB like Shanks did Luffy or someone who knew Xebec taught B a few things.

Xebec was into many taboo things

What if he found some sort of way to change bodies

It would be simplistic but it makes the most sense right now. It'd be better if Roger simply told Shanks about the history because he trusts him, and Shanks believes in freedom of the seas thanks to Roger. To honor Roger and to uphold his own personal ideals, Shanks tries to prevent BB from becoming the new Rocks and ruling the world.

This is a series where zombies come back to life, souls can be given to furniture, people turning themselves into cyborgs using scrap etc. I wouldn't be surprised if Rox got a new body or something.
