Honestly, I'm somewhat disappointed after reading the translation of the scans.

First, I had the impression that Oden was doing all of that for Hyo's sake, and that Hyo was imprisoned. BUT, the reality is that Hyo was never even part of the deal. From what it seems, when Orochi asked Oden to help him in building weapon factories. Oden's reply was about having his own ship!

Which makes me believe that his whole plan was simply "GET OUT OF WANO" with a ship. For real!??? Is that really it?

I honestly HOOOPE, I'm wrong, and I want Oda to show more stuff that pressured Oden to agree to the deal.

Cause If that's really what it was all about, that Oden agreed to leave Wano for Orochi, making a mockery of himself for 5 years in hope of getting a ship, and leave Wano with his family and retainers!???

This will be a huuuuuge stain on Oden. I don't care what anyone would say. In fact, before oden. It will be a huge stain on Oda as a writer because as someone said before, he had to justify 5 years gap between Oden returning and Oden falling.

And he could have easily avoided that by simply one of two moves:

1- Either he could have spent 5 more years in WB ship after Roger crew. Returning to WB, staying for 5 years, then deciding that he wants to return home to his wife. SO MUCH BETTER than ruining his character like this. And at the same time, oden not feeling that his home needs him (meaning Oda not showing a panel of Oden having bad feeling about Wano when he was with Roger) so that is return is NOT rushed.

2- OR, Oda could have easily changed some dates. He could have made Oden die 25 years ago, Kinemon and co, time traveled 25 years into future not 20, and lastly, Toki says the prophecy is after 25 years, and not 20 years.

But honestly... I'm outraged at the reason that made Oden obey Orochi. Like, they never mentioned a threat to Hyo's family. They never mentioned a threat to his family (which he was fully aware of when he left Kuri and Toki told him the enemy can counter attack. There was no threat over the life of someone loved.
Yet for some reason, The CHAD, The never bowing, the always rebillious, the man among men, agreed to negotiate with orochi over a SHIP????

Dude, I'm done. If Oda doesn't add more reasons behind the agreement, like more pressure point, I'd be fucking pissed at Oda for humiliating Oden in the worst possible way over a freaking SHIP! and basically abandon Wano citizens and only taking his family and retainers probably

Relax and wait for the resolution next week.
Oda isn't such a bad writer to just make Oden submit for a ship.

It more and more looks like Oda has written himself into a corner with the 5 year time gap between Oden's return-death.

This is just stupid
Same to you: Relax.

You can complain when time shows some really lazy writing, but right now complaining is just absurd.

We don't even have a chapter yet, the translation is very iffy and even in this iffy translation it's made clear that Oden has been hiding something all those years.

I am counting on that man. But if next week chapter reveals basically that Oden subitted over a deal of getting a ship to leave with his family. I think we can ALL AGREE that this is truly bad way of writing his character.
Specially with what we know about him!
I won't even blame Oden. I would basically blame Oda for that.

Grandpa Hyo stays as the MVP manliest character in Wano thus far though

He never yielded to Orochi. And after his wife death, and because kaido is impressed with him (as Orochi stated in this chapter that Hyo was too much for him to handle) Orochi asked Kaido to handle Hyo, and after his wife and subordinates death, Kaido imprisoned him and tried to break his spirit, and he was still the first to meet Luffy and believe in him to rebel against Kaido's forces.

Hyo is a true G

The Penguin

We could see Fukurokuju and also I think another guy talking with Oden could be Kuni, one of Kyoshiro's men.

This said, dudes, the "last" opportunity to see if Denjiro is really Kyoshiro is in the next chapter, because Kyoshiro knows the full story with details and how the Kozuki dead so HE WAS THERE AND MUST APPEAR WITH OROCHI.

He could've returned to WB ship, keeping his promise with Whitey chan, sailed for like 2 or 3 years and THEN returned to Wano. Half of the complaints would've dissappeared. :whitepress:
exactly the point. He promised WB that he will get back after 1 year. He didn't. Oda used to emphasize more on the whole certain character deliver onto their promise NO MATTER WHAT.
Specially the men who are usually being depicted as "Men among men"
The likes of:
1- Roger
2- WB
3- Shanks
4- Rayleigh
5- Luffy
6- Oden
7- Zoro
8- Zeff
9- Mihawk
...etc. From Men Oda usually takes their words seriously. Where, when they say "they will do that, they will actually do it"

I think it was unnecessary for Oda to show a panel of Oden when he returned with Roger for the red poneglyph, where Oden felt that Wano was in bad state. That was uncalled for, and Oda should have delayed that for Oden's true return. If he didn't show that. There would be no reason for Oden to rush his return to Wano. And thus keeping his word and promise to Whitebeard by returning to him after 1 year. Staying for few years THEN, returining to Wano 20 or 21 years ago from present time.

We already knew Shinobu worked for Orochi....not even the RS mention the promise or agreement or Oden -Orochi cuz tbh there was no situation to such thing to be asked or be brought.

Her traitor chances are the same as the past people are overthinking.

Moreover she doesn't hold weight .

The traitor is someone who knows things about the outside world too.

No one can tell me that these Navy soldiers are just fodders, they come out nowhere and easily defeat someone as Gotti who isn´t weak, he get negged. I call it here, these guys are new cyborgs and the new weapon of the Navy who replace the Shichibukai, don´t be surprise if even Capone having very hard time against these guys.
We don't know how strong Gotti is, especially in close combat. And it's not like this is the first time we see a Navy soldier actually winning against a prominent foe; main example would be Yarisugi, a commodore, taking down a Supernova like Coribou (190 million berries) with ease. Let's wait until we now more about these guys.
