Oden is an actual monster holy shit, i don't know why people are suprised to see him being on equal footing with kaido when just in this flashback we see him going toe to toe with whitebeard, and taking a named attack from the pirate king and getting back up a few seconds later.

This basically means the kaido from 20 years ago in wano when he fought oden wasn't as strong as he is in the current time, it will be interesting what fights did he have that made him get stronger over the years.

Kaido started as a dragon (because he's dumb) and when Oden tried to give Kaido the finishing blow, Oden got distracted, Kaido quickly turned into base and blew Oden away. It basically wasn't a fight. Just a trade of blows.
