Always fascinates me how underhandedly the Japanese word their insults😂
He's always been like this, i remember old interviews and author comments where he said that he was sick once and took his drawing tools to the hospital so he could jeep working; before he wrote One Piece he had an accident (car i think) and was begging the doctor to ket him leave the hospital early because of a deadline.
I think the deadline and schedule issues have always been with Oda as an integral part of who he is and the older he gets the worse it becomes, exacerbated by the fact that throughout the years his brain has been conditioned to associate this behavior with success and now that nobody has any say over his work because of this success, there is noone to stop him from repeating the same behavioral patterns until the day he dies of overwork.
I DO believe him that he wants to finish this manga and wants to spend time with his family but it's hard to overcome something that essentially amounts to addiction .

one piece just happened to be lucky series to be talked about most in Japanese forums also it helped that early one piece wasn't as bad as postTS
marinford also made a MASSIVE MASSIVE spike in sales, because of that reader's were expecting crazy shit after marineford due to how Oda talked about New World and how marinford will look "cute". Obviously, his failed to meet those expectations.
Now reader's are only keeping up with one piece due to sunk cost fallacy.

Now i think its fan thats keeping the series alive . I agree Oda lost his Mojo after seeing Wano arc to me it looks like he no longer cares how series goes . Its just wow and epic entrance of character . Also with Nika Oda can spam Luffy unlimited Gear 5 on steriods .
Pre time skip had great arcs i dont think he can top Skypiea , Water 7 and Marineford those were great . I certainly did not want OPLA it really delayed his dedication on manga he is literally Japanese GRRM he knows where his money comes now .
