This explanation doesn’t work because Luffy was using a time limit form. The length of the fight wouldn’t be affected by how hard is was trying, if anything he wouldn’t last as long

You really dont understand Oda lmfao. Man had Luffy come back from the dead against Kaido, recover some HP then lose G5 after sometime. And just restart it again because why not while he was severely damaged. Had Kaido act like a retard and not use all those high end moves from the start on Luffy pre G4 and even G5 when he was literally bullying the shit out of him.

Where were those moves against pre G5 and G4 Luffy? They were there, but werent used for plot reasons.

Like I said a real battle between Kizaru and Luffy would be a long drawn out fight, if you believe otherwise youre kidding yourself. The ''time limit'' will magically not matter anymore. And sinc ethis was an escape arc we got what we got in the arc, two sides doing the bare minimum.

Therein lies your problem, Oda gave him the perfect excuse to fuck around with Luffy.

And he will give an excuse for why Kizaru doesnt finish off non G5 Luffy, lazyness, trolling, you name it.

And then he will also have Luffy restart his G5 while Kizaru sits there staring at him (literally what Kaido did btw lol) as if we were in DBZ where we just watch each other powerup.
