the assumption is that no novel is canon until proven otherwise
Ace Novel was called canon by many source when it was out ...
I dont think the word “Canon” have ever been used to describe the Ace novel either.
As far as i can tell, the Ace novel is considered Canon and a big deal because it was the first one.
i think the types of statements used for Ace’s novel are “Learn the origin of Luffy’s brother” and stuff like that where its like they are marketing it as the actuak origins and stuff. And then Oda himself provided character designs for Ace’s crew.
Thats all well and good but has it actually been stated otherwise for anyone else? By this i mean if the People in charge of One piece outside of Oda have marketed the Ace novel as Ace’s origin, then isnt it automatically assumed Law’s novel just works the same way.
If the Ace novel is marketed as Ace’s origin for years then i gets republished in the One piece magazine and then it even gets a manga, then the next magazine says “This is the Law novel”, shouldnt we just assume the Law novel works the same way as the Ace novel?
Just by the mere fact that they both come out in the magazine?
Thats why i think there must be an explocit statement that these other novels arent canon. We dont need a statement to say “this novel is canon” since the Ace novel existing sort of implies everything is canon so we instead need a specific statement saying “This IS NOT CANON” instead
