Let's use your logic. You are saying the string would snap with body expansion. That means there's a limit on how big the target parasite would work. That's the issue. Parasite worked on Jozu who is bigger than Boundman so this string limit to the point that it cannot contain target who is bigger than Boundman does not make sense to begin with when parasite already worked on Jozu who is bigger than Boundman.

Marco was meant to fight Kuzan, Kuzan is a horrible match up for Jozu. Ice can cause diamond to shatter, but diamond reflects light.
Jozu vs Kizaru would have been fine, the Marines won the moment they got Marco is Seastone cuffs.
