Break Week Opinion: Zoro should’ve fought a Samurai in a proper swords battle

1 proper sword battle in pre-TS
1 proper sword battle in post-TS
In pre-TS it belongs to WSS from centuries ago
In post-TS it belongs to current WSS

Only the wielders of Black Blade can offer a proper sword battle.
King has plenty to offer for this to be the best fight in post-TS so far.

Yeah, you'd think in Wano you'd get that.

99% of people expected Zoro to fight a Samurai before Wano.

I think the biggest problem of Wano was making the Shogun goofy. Making an badass one would make the antagonist side so much more interesting.

> It would explain why Kaido is siding with the Shogun, as he just aknowledge strength and not sneaky snitches.
> Oden could have lost without Kaido loosing his face, for taking hostage and doing the momo trick.
> The Samurai/Wano wouldn't look like a joke and be an even force to the Beast Pirates.
> We wouldn't get annoying panels with Orochi, who isn't relevant to the story.
> And of course: We would have an interesting enemy for Zoro, who is using a two sword style technique

I don't know how Zoro wants to become the strongest swordsman, when he is constantly fighting not swordsman.

Oda wants to make Zoro fight King so that he can reveal to us stuff about Lunarians, and in the end, Nika.
As for Zoro, he's just gonna show us his "analytical" side as he did in the Pica fight.
"Oh! He can only use his fire at this moment." bla bla bla
That's the difference though. Oda is using Queen vs. Sanji to develop Sanji, but he's using King vs. Zoro to develop King.

The Queen fight vs Sanji is simply a better written fight. Even the Jack fight apart from the off screening. Why?

Inurashi had a legitimate backstory with Jack.

Queen has a legitimate backstory with Sanji and Judge/MADS.

Zoro has nothing to do with King or his character apart them being the right hands of their crew. Now Oda is trying to force feed us King’s backstory to “help” beat him. It’s contrived af.

What do we get instead? Zoro being exposed for not being able to fly…Again. How many times must we go down this route?

Now his opponent doesn’t even consider himself a “swordsman”. If Orochi was going to be weak, and Denjiro going to betray him, then use someone else, like Orochi’s son.

Imagine having an evil badass Samurai, part of the Orochi clan, and his son, being >= YC1 level or whatever fighting in a PROPER swords duel with Zoro, and not just “What is the secret Lunarian ability?”.

Zoro should’ve fought the “Strongest Swordsman/Samurai of Wano”. It’s such a missed opportunity.
Look it shows that zoro didn't know doffy was using strings. Supports sanji not knowing he was using strings to attack him

Let’s stop the cap. Sanji vs queen currently is trash. The choreography is trash. This just seems like a hate thread because you said king is pica 2.0
Sanji vs Queen is not trash, the fight is so far decent but it could be done better.

We still need to see more from that fight, the problem with that fight so far is that we aren't seeing Queen dominating Sanji like how King is doing to Zoro.

The fight for now seems almost even, Queen attacks Sanji and then Sanji attacks Queen however Sanji's attacks aren't doing that much damage to Queen.

Also we still need to see some other attacks from Queen other than him shooting his laser beams.

Funny how all of the fights Oda has been putting Zoro into, it's all about him learning to cut harder and more difficult things, and nothing to do with defeating an actual "strong swordsman".

Yet people want to claim the WSS title is all about strength, and skill and technique with a Sword is irrelevant. Might want to send that memo to Oda, because he don't give a fuck about Zoro defeating a "Strong Swordsman" and is mainly focusing on his cutting ability, skills, and technique.

Like King isn't even a legit Swordsman, and here we are with Zoro needing to figure out how to cut him in order to beat him.

Exactly my thoughts @sanjikun first time we agree on something. Zoro's opponent in Wano arc should been Orochi, young samurai and segun, that will be dope. Instead we get clown-rochi, clown-ling, clown-queen

A guy in a world of magic powers finds himself defending against those powers. Go figure.

Zoro vs Kamazo was a samurai fight against a guy who is basically as powerful as any lone fighter in Wano. The only one who could beat Killer comfortably with swords, aside from Zoro, would be Inuarashi

I think the biggest problem of Wano was making the Shogun goofy. Making an badass one would make the antagonist side so much more interesting.

Honestly, this is hard to debate because people who think Orochi should be a badass as so far beyond missing the point.

Zoro's been interested in the samurais from Wano for quite some time.
He fought the zombie version of the legendary warrior from that country.

Orochi/Kyoshiro being clown/scabbard were the WORST decisions Oda could have made. Beating the "strongest current samurai" on the land of warriors notorious for their swordplay, feels almost mandatory, considering Zoro's dream of becoming the WSS.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Only Zoro and Mihawk care about this title. Forgot that Oda fails spectacularly in showcasing the importance of this title and that there's not a single other swordsman in the world so far that craves this as well.

Goda.:finally:

I'm still looking forward for Oda to better portray Yoru's potential.

More?
He shoots lasers.
He attacks with the claws.
He uses a sword.
He uses the snake form.
Gag or not, he can use the missiles from his leftover body.
He can also beat people with his brachio form (brachio bomber).
He has some special retractable teeth.

If we take a step back, take a deep breath, and analyze Queen, we can see he has multiple different attacks on his arsenal. Same goes for King.
He can fight on his animal form.
He has the "angry bird" attack.
Flying slashes.
Uses a sword with gimmicks.
Fire attacks.
Hand to hand combat (even if he uses kicks :P )

My problem with these fights is the constant back and forth with irrelevant or straight up garbage plots and filler fights.
Had they had a full chapter purely dedicated for them, we could have gotten something cool as the first half of Jinbei vs Whoswho chapter.
Not only we get small pieces of the fight each time, we have to wait WEEKS to see them again.
I've said it before.
It's like you're having sex with a girl, then, right before she has an orgasm, you decide to stop what you're doing, because you want to change positions to something you saw in porn and thought it was cool, then she loses the momentum.
It's just frustrating AF. :kayneshrug:
