Oda probably just realized if he's going to have the Straw Hats visit dozens of Islands throughout their journey, he can't make them all of them as massive as Alabasta.

Alabasta is so big that a lot of its areas should be a part of one of the four blues, because that's how big it is

An area of 6361 km2 means it has a diameter of 90km if the island is round, or 80km if it is a square type.
