I think that it should be clear at this point that the raid has been unnecessarily stretched out. A lot of it is just that Oda wants to have his cake and eat it too. We spent several chapters with the Scabbards fighting Kaido to satisfy the samurai revenge plot when it was obvious that it's Luffy's job so it would go nowhere. He had the Scabbards go up just to get beat up, healed up, and then beat up again. He had Jack go up to the roof to get beat up to satisfy the Zou plotline but it was obvious it wouldn't be final as Jack had to be taken down in an actual fight, so he got up again to get beat up again.
The roof top fight though entertaining was mostly to stall until Kaido and Big Mom got separated into the expected match ups. Others have already mentioned Sanji, and now we are waiting for Zoro to get up again too.
It's still the same old formula and there's nothing wrong with that. It just makes it tedious when there's so much pointless stalling even though we very well know it's mostly going to end up the same way.
Like my reply to other threads discussing the same issues, you just gotta learn to live with it, it is what it is.
If i gotta rudely sum it up in one sentence to describe it all, it would be:
"suck it up bitch, sometimes Oda's writing is shit"
WCI was also filled with pointless plot points, many of them never got resolved.
I swear i've seen this kind of thread for the third time in one week, i guess that means that WG users have gotten a lot smarter, or that Oda has really dropped the ball.
I think Oda needs to go with quality>quantity and less is more approach, one of the reasons the arcs are so dragged out that isn't breaks is because of oda trying to juggle too many things at the same time in one arc. Those individual plot points get drawn out, and the arc itself becomes unnecessarily longer. Most disappointingly is when the payoff wasn't worth the buildup. So many fake hype moments and unresolved plot points that went nowhere. WCI suffered from this, and now Wano too.
The pacing has been garbage since Dressrosa, or was Fishman Island bad too? I can't remember.
Anyway 100+ chapter arcs post timeskip has become the norm, both Dressrosa and WCI were unnecessarily too long. Wano won't be any different unfortunately.
I thought Oda was diverting away from his usual formula when we had Roof Piece. That's not Oda's fault. That's my fault. All I really want is the central focus to be on the SHs. It seems like that is happening now.
well .... maybe oda don,t really plan ahead n use too many plot so the pacing become longer n longer
like what purpose of orochi? now he got nothing n maybe joined cp 0 to backstab the winner in onigashima?
n the scabbrad they defeated but back again n fight who? any opponent for them ?
luffy lost 2 time vs kaido i can accept he lost 3 time vs crocodile but get up n fight again but yamato vs kaido? hmmm ....
oh well just enjoy the ride n still hoping we can know about reverie news lol
That's exactly what it was!!! The main reason for the rooftop fight was to satisfies Zorotards with it. They've been very demanding of Zoro vs Kaido fight, and since Zorotards are amongst the biggest Oda ass lickers, Oda had no other choice but to give it them, otherwise he would have lost a big chunk of his supporters.
I love seeing Zorohater cry. Werent you on of those people who said Zoro will fight Orochi or Queen?
Oda destroyed you breh. Ever since the Rooftop fight you have been bitching and crying like a lil girl. Stay salty bro.
