I actually enjoying this series. I like how each episodes ties in to the main plot. Plus Liko is a great main character.

Roy should get a set of big eater pokemon or the very least a Snorlax.

Meanwhile Liko should get a set of the "lewd" pokemon like Gardevoir and so on.

I hope we can enter a proper tournament type arc in near future.

Perhaps Roy can enter it. Liko may be gifted as a trainer but dislike fighting.

I think next weekend the anime may resume. Migt be an OLM break because they have alot of new anime this season.

Stay away for sure. They can atleast give him a cameo. But no significant screentime imho.

They miss their chance of giving him a proper ending via shown in as an adult or go out with a bang with a movie. Sigh

I'd actually prefer him to stay away. When I began to watch Horizons, I thought at first that I would miss his character, but the series is actually refreshingly different without him and I don't need him to be around atm, he would just steal screentime from the current main characters. Like @Rej said, he maybe could return for a cameo, but it's also okay if that doesn't happen

When they go into area zero to resolve the Terapagos story, that's when he should come back. And just for that plot.

Anything more is pointless and defeats the purpose of letting him go in the first place.
