That crocus moment isn't a gag, a gag is something that's repeated for example Zoro getting lost or Sanji's perversion of women and Choppers reaction to compliments

If you mean the comedic moments where funnier pre time skip was funnier then yeah I agree

however the repeated strawhats gags were/are still cringe

It was funnier pre time skip but some of it is also that gags run their course
How many times can you laugh at Sanji's woman problem or Chopper reacting to compliments etc.. it gets repetitive and annoying.

Pre timeskip felt more free....and we expect things to continue and get better...but became worse and not free.

I would say that maybe you feel that they are overused but there are still gags that are funny and some less than others.

Luffy calling people by the wrong name is classic.
Zoro's poor sense of direction will never not be funny.
Brook fixing his damage bones with Milk will also always be funny and hasn't been overdone.
The Bounty poster gag's find a way to stay funny as well.
Franky crying will always be manly!
