Why you put Roger in class A? @SmokedOut
Roger instructed Garp to take care of Ace, despite knowing that the Marines wanted to end his bloodlone. He trusted a man that was technically his enemy to take care of a son he'd never have the chance to meet. I think it takes a person of sound judgement to place the life of your flesh and blood in someone else's hand, especially a member of the Marines. Imo that gives him an A rank

For me:
Kyros is definitely the best dad, dude got turned to toy and had to watch his wife got murdered. And then his daughter and everyone else forgot about him, but he still managed to endure those hardships and then teach Rebecca how to protect herself, as well as always by her side.
He literally still managed to protect her by many years, despite being a toy.
His story makes him the best father in one piece imo.

And for the second best, I would say that is Zeff, the man that saved sanji and made him grew strong to these days. Without him, sanji would’ve indeed died.

And as for the worst father, Judge is definitely the one, imo. Though dragon is kinda dead beat too, but hopefully that his father-son relationship between him and Luffy will get better in the future arcs.

Judge is the worst, Kaido trapped his daughter but at least he acknowledges her as his offspring and is intending to have her succeed the evil family trade wheras Judge wanted Sanji to ideally be killed out of sight. Roger is a douchebag to literally have a kid only to fulfill his dream, despite knowing his life would be extremely messed up. Yassop is pathetic running away from responsibilty, to a lesser extent so is Shanks? but at least the kid has Makino.

S. Corazon, Hiruluk, Zeff, Whitebeard (Caring so much about kids that aren't even their blood)
A. Kyros, Oden (the love he had for Momonosuke really shines through- peerless :)), Pinwheel guy, Jaguar D Saul if he counts,
B. Neptune, Garp
C. Cobra, Pound (too goofy, weak and dumb to have significantly helped his kids, heart in the right place though)
D. Dragon, Shanks (Makino's child) (Deadbeat, but at least made sure they had someone to look after them)
E. Yassop
F. Kaido, Morgan (Bully's child but still provides for them)
Z. Judge

why is senior pink so high? what did he do to his son? did he leave his pirate life so his son would live a safe and stable life? no what did he do to deserve to be grouped with zeff and whitebeard?

he knew what would happen if the marines found out that his son is related to him yet he continued

i really don’t get why is everyone viewing senior pink as saint he helped doflamingo enslave people and delete their existence how many fathers do you think were erased from their children memories?

  • whitebeard,zeff,dr hiriluk
  • neptune,oden,sengoku
  • garp,cobra,koushiro,pound
  • bege,dragon
  • yassop,senior pink
  • judge

yeah but after all that he still didn’t leave his pirate life behind which was the reason he lost his wife and child
Yup you're right, he led a double life and I'm not discounting the horrible things he did as a pirate. I acknowledge the fact that he's remorseful of his fuck up and is trying to make amends.

I would put him as A grade, because we didn't get that much details about their relationship directly, but he seemed like a good parent to raise such a legend.

I thought of two others we forgot: Sabo's dad Outlook III and Law's dad (does he have a name?)

Obviously, Law's dad is a good father.

But I was thinking about how Sabo's dad wanted to force him to live his life as a noble, even going as far as to threaten his best friends' lives. I don't remember him being violent with Sabo, but I would put him on the lowest rank just because he was so uncaring toward his son's feelings.

But then, I was thinking about the fathers in OP who seemed to already make up their minds about what their kid would do. Judge had already assigned roles to his future children. Roger decided his son (and he never even considered a daughter) would take his name. Garp tried to make Ace and Luffy into Marines against their will.

When Sanji was thinking of leaving the Baratie, Zeff was actually pushing him to go follow his dream; not to stay and just be a cook, but to find himself. We should rank people like Tom and Zeff higher because they don't force a life onto their kids. Tom had 2 sons with very different philosophies, but he loved them both equally and defended Franky's choices when Iceburg made fun of him. That's a great dad right there!

But there's some cases, like Rebecca or Law, where a father pushed their child to study or train for their own survival, not just for the parent's pride. So I guess my question is:

Which fathers pushed their children in order to help them grow and learn and which fathers pushed their children in order to further their own pride, like Outlook III and Morgan?

Garp also pushed Luffy, lol. How does he stack up? Was it truly for Luffy's own good?

I honestly don't remember Law's dad, I'll have to look him up.

I see Sabo's old man as the antithesis to Doffy/Cora's father. While Homing wanted his son's to live a life of humility and to respect the lives of others, Sabo's dad wanted him to remain a noble and thus abandon any shred of humility for other people.

Lol Garp would be straight up locked up for child abuse.

Besides the people you already mentioned, I can't think of anyone who pushed their kids. I see more sacrifice than trying to further someone.

Koshiro is a tough one to crack, because depending on where you grew up, there will a divergence as to whether he’s a good father.

He raised and took care of his daughter, but he was not supportive of her passion, and instead sowed seeds of doubt onto her. He’s a staunch traditionalist, and that is not a viewpoint I, personally, agree with, but I understand it. He is clearly based off and raised on old Japanese traditions of assumed gender roles.
