Probably the best year for One Piece in a long, long time.

I think the only big complaint with the manga is the amount of breaks. Egghead‘s been great, and the trips outside Egghead to show the rest of the world has been a nice move.

The anime is staying pretty strong, potentially being the best version of Wano? It’s came a long way since the shitshow that was Dressrosa at any rate. I’m still not a massive fan of how over the top it is, but my opinion is clearly not the mainstream opinion.

The Netflix series was actually a) good and b) successful, which was a massive surprise.

When’s the last year that was as good as this?
I believe we would be saying end of dressrosa year or PTS times..

Is not a hard task.

My opinion

Law vs Teach: To be honest it sucks that Teach needed to gangbang Law while Law didn't proved to be near Yonko level at Wano. Huge W for Law and Sulong Bepo(base Bepo still sucks) that still could hard/extreme diff lose to Teach gangbang and it really bothers me the constant Teach L (that only delusionals like Erkan12 see as a W) in the part of the history. He should be badass not getting scared of Seraphims, Old Legends and Sulong Minks.

Kid vs Shanks: Ridiculous powerscale creep to hype up Shanks(one of the favorite characteres of manga) just to try to sell more. Kid is a joke OK but even this joke could tank some attacks of Big Mom and Kaido. The way they lost was just ridiculous and he had much more panel time than Law. Hell at least he had Chapter Titles for him(or his fight), Law not even that(I can't find his chapter fights based on titles that's what I mean).

Garp vs Aokiji: The main fight itself was pretty nice to me. Garp lived the legend he is suppose to be while being weakened by age and Aokiji also stood his ground pretty much as an Admiral should. Oda respected pretty well both powerscaling here. But then he completely fucked up on Coby's part since he did a chapter 1010 Luffy moment by pulling a new power he didn't had out of his ass in his lame new attack Honesty Impact. Ridiculous way to hype a character.

Revos vs Admirals/Gorosei: It was pretty strange the "Admiral fight" on Mariejoia we can't take much of that. Revos took a huge W because they fullfilled their objectives while Admirals were pretty restrain (they couldn't affford causing damage and Fujitora was actually helping Revos, lol) so I would say it is ok. Sabo vs Gorosei was a huge L for Gorosei. First of all Imu couldn't even one-shot that old man Cobra who had a foot on his coffin already. Not only that but both Imu and all 5 Gorosei failed to sense Sabo there until he used Hiken on their face (does Cobra scared all of them that much?). Not only that but Sabo almost managed to escape while carrying Cobra with him. He took a huge hit where Oda power creeped what he should have felt but still managed to escape alone at least. Meanwhile at least one of the Gorosei was able to sense Wapol but useless to do anything about it. Oda is completely lost about powers and strength towards Imu and Gorosei(Why neither Sabo or Cobra got that headshot from Saturn's transformation?).

Yonko vs Admiral: Luffy vs Kizaru fight was hype at the beginning but pretty lame at the end. Unlike Dressrosa where Luffy faced an Admiral just because he was naive of the power gap between them(or he didn't imagined Oda would fucked up so bad when he finally faced Yonkos) this time he actually was near Kizaru level and had a chance (almost impossible but was there) to beat him. Oda was carefull to portray their powerlevels really close. Although Kizaru didn't had any trouble until G5 he made sure to recognize Luffy as the man who beated Kaido. But the fight was all about saving or killing Vegapunk so not a real 1v1 fight with both trying to beat the other, which justifies the ridiculous ending as they both knocks down each other. Meanwhile Zoro vs Lucci is just there so fan doesn't ask what they are doing. Oda so far doesn't have plans for them until some other events happen.

Kuma backstory: Useless at this point of story. I don't give a fuck about him now.

9 Vice Admirals: Nothing to say they will only get some real panels next year.

9 Holy Knights: Nothing to say they will only get some real panels next year.

Bonney: Ass character.

Return to form imo. The Kuma plot has been something Ive waited for well over a decade now. 1103 might be the best chapter this year (technically) depending on what happens and who stops Saturn.

Heres to hoping Kizaru actually gets a better showcase of his powers this coming year and we get some decent fights before the arc ends.

law and kidd chaptes were dynamic - 9/10

sabo meeting imu was exciting - 10/10

egghead shenanigans - 3/10 (vegapunk was a mistake)

kuma's fb until ginny got kidnapped - 8/10 (loved the CD lore)

kuma's fb after ginny got kidapped - 1/10 (dragon is pathetic, nika sucks)

overall - 31/50. could be worse. WILL be worse now that oda has gone full throttle with that nika shit...

Awesome year.
Would be even better without all the breaks, the month break in order to prepare showed to be of great help, Oda needs more preparation for Arcs, Wano was a giant mess and hopefully he learns from that.

8.5/10

I was pretty ambivalent with Wano, but Egghead in my opinion is one of the best stories in Oda's career

Feels really good to be so positive about this series again
