Theres a difference between Kids first loss being completely offscreened in a timeskip and motivation for his post TS actions vs. The narration literally "annihilating" him into irrelevancy lol.
Kid isnt an antagonist, he is Luffy's reluctant shonen ally (i.e. early Vegeta). He will contribute nothing to Shanks' loss. Leave that to Blackbeard or Luffy.

Oda will preserve Shanks' dignity and give him really good feats and hype but he needs to do the same to BB.
Because obviously BB is Luffy's Ultimate Pirate Fight.
Especially if Luffy beats Kizaru - BB needs to do at least as good and that's not by having him and Kid beat Shanks.
I'm thinking, Shanks will dominate Gura + Yami BB, but BB will reveal or even eat a Zoan mid fight.
And then BB will dominate & beat him.

I am saying this as a Shanks fan. Shanks may have been defeated by the time Kid makes a come back.

Oda honestly treats Teach more like Kid than Shanks. He's a scummy pirate unlike an honorable one like Shanks. In the MF war, Teach didn't take out WB honestly or fairly, he did a bitch move and subsequently got his moment when he stole WB's DF.
Yeah I'm not saying that Kid overshadows Teach. But the build up is there for Kid to finally get his moment against Shanks.
