Usually the Mafioso carry the kill and is the one who gets killed if the target was protected by Body guard.
So they either don’t have a mafioso to begin with, or they were blocked. We need to know who was blocked.

How does the bodyguard ability work if you use it? Do you die instead of the person you are visiting if they were attacked?

I can use it to protect somebody. As far as I know I‘m perfectly safe from retaliation as I don‘t visit a living player directly, but my Zombies do. But I‘m not sure yet if I get informed if my ghoul was attacked. I need to ask Zem.
