I’m not gonna lie, I don’t see the appeal of this limitation. I know I’m still green, but not being able to even hint things in your own defense sucks. Is that the point, to obfuscate things so far that the paranoia drives our voting?

Haha, yes it will be a bit harder to play but on the contrary, it could also help people being sussed because it forces people to rely on reads and the little information they have to back it up. Even if you can’t hint things to defend yourselves, if you are mafia, people are also not allowed to accuse you like “I investigated you! You’re mafia” etc. So it gives a bit more leeway imo.

Oh this is a game that would take a few days. You have 24 hours to discuss with other players (Day phase), and then a 24 hours down time (night phase). And it repeats until either town/mafia or independent players win

But there are few issues I have to address first and until then I can't afford to involve myself in mafia game activities knowing how exhausting my game play is for my self.
