TLDR: Blackbeard's ancestor Sad Man/Moon was jealous, and betrayed Joy Boy/Sun. Sad Man used his Darkness powers to Eclipse Joy Boy's powers, allowing Im/Uranus and the Gorosei to defeat Joy Boy, and replace him as "Gods". Sad Man was then betrayed by Imu, and Rocks/Blackbeard want to get revenge on the World Government for denying them the God-hood they were promised.

Blackbeard is controlled by Sad Man, and Luffy will defeat Sad Man in order to free Blackbeard from his Ancestor's sins, making Blackbeard become Marshall D. Teach. The D clan, the Dawn tribe, will reunite, Joy Boy will forgive Sad Man for his betrayal, and they will stand together to defeat the false Gods who caused the Eclipse that created the Void Century: the century void of light.

The recent astrological/astronomical focus in One Piece made me realize (like many others) that if Luffy is the Sun, Blackbeard is most likely the Moon. While it's possible Imu could be the moon, since Imu seems to be connected to the Ancient Weapon Uranus, it's much more likely Imu serves as Uranus, with Shirahoshi being Neptune, and Momo being Pluto.

So, let's say Blackbeard is the Moon, and Luffy is the Sun. This sets up their rivalry perfectly, and explains everything: the Moon eclipses the Sun. In some mythology, this is because the Moon WAS JEALOUS of the Sun's light, and wished for people to only look upon it. The Moon can only shine through the Sun's light, after all. Without the Sun, it is what? Darkness.

Before The Dawn, there was The Eclipse. This is how Imu and the WG gained power: the Sun was weakened/Eclipsed, by the Moon, making it so the rest of the planets (Imu + the Gorosei + the Ancient Weapons possibly) could overtake the Sun.

Blackbeard's Ancestor (I'll call him... Sad Man...) was jealous of Joy Boy, and his great power, even while working alongside him. He knew he could never shine as bright as the Sun, Joy Boy. Imu, seeing this jealousy, convinced Sad Man to betray Joy Boy, and offered him great power. However, Sad Man, after betraying Joy Boy, was also betrayed: Imu, knowing Sad Man could not be trusted, destroyed him as well.

That is the sin of Rocks' and Teach's bloodline, and why they wish to destroy the World Government: because they were betrayed by those they betrayed for. Rocks wanted to become King of the World, BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WAS STOLEN FROM HIS FAMILY. Uranus/Imu promised Moon/Sad Man a place at the Gorosei's table, or, maybe, even an equal partnership. So, Sad Man used his powers of Darkness to "Eclipse" the Sun, Joy Boy, and his powers.

This is why the Final War is inevitable (Doflamingo is probably aware of a lot of this): Blackbeard's family is always going to want blood, for how they were betrayed, while the Ancient Kingdom/Joy Boy side wants to bring about the Dawn, leading to a three way between Uranus/Imu and the Planets/Gorosei, the Sun/Joy Boy, the Moon/Sad Man, with the Ancient Weapons being used as pieces to fight.

This betrayal with Blackeard also ties directly back to Orochi in Wano. Orochi couldn't shine as bright as Oden, so, he eclipsed him. But, no matter how much he tried, Orochi could only shine by stealing Oden's light: even Orcohi's own propaganda involved him using Oden's Two Sword Style. Eventually, Orochi was betrayed by the man he betrayed Oden with: Kaido. So, then, Orochi tried to backstab Kaido as well with the fire. This has all happened before.

However, AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, Luffy will break the cycle, BY REDEEMING BLACKBEARD and making him an ally. Luffy is the one who STOPS these cycles of revenge and violence. Luffy freed Wano, by making a Kurozumi like Tama befriend a Kozuki like Momo, by making Yamato accepted as a defender of Wano, rather than hated as Kaido's child.

Nothing will change if Luffy tries to kill Blackbeard, once realizing why he is the way he is (I fully expect Rocks/Sad Man to also be controlling Blackbeard on some level). Luffy has to beat Rocks/Sad Man, to SAVE Blackbeard from that fate. That is why Blackbeard cries when he looks at the moon. It's not only his home on some level probably, connected to the Ancient Kingdom, but he is cursed to always be Eclipsed by not only Joy Boy, but his own Ancestors' sins.

:crybeard:

Luffy will free Blackbeard from his past: and he, instead, will become Marshall D. Teach, the man who will overcome his Ancestor's betrayal, and help Joy Boy, the King of the Pirates, defeat Imu, Uranus, the false God who Eclipsed the Sun during the Void Century: the century void of light. The century of darkness. The century where the Sun was killed, and replaced.

The Dawn will only come when the clan of D(awn) reunites. When the Sun and Moon are in harmony again.

(One more fun fact: the reason the astronomical model of the solar system in the Library of Ohara is revolving around the planet they live on, not the sun, is because the sun is not viewed as the center of the solar system, the earth is. The WG doesn't want people thinking the world revolves around the sun, the Celestial Dragons want the world to believe that everything revolves around them, LOL)

Top tier theory but I think Imu is rather Gaia/Earth/Vearth (look up to this one, Vearth was mentioned in Skypiea arc) instead of Uranus.

I agree with everything else.
Ohhh, I like that a lot... definitely fits. Also leaves Nami open to be Uranus, and gain control of it eventually.

It definitely also fits to Nami which would surprisingly make her as one of the strongest strawhats. But as I said, Imu being Gaia is more likely as everything would center around the earth which fits for Imu's title being the king of the world.

Nah BB won't be redeemed. He's Luffy's foil in the narrative, and two of the themes if OP is fate and history repeating itself. In the past the villains win and when history starts to repeat in the present, the villains would've won again if not for Luffy, changing fate. Luffy for example is Joyboy, but Joyboy still ultimately failed. Luffy this time around is gonna succeed. Oden tried liberating Wano and failed. History repeated itself but this time Wano was saved. In the past the Buster Call wiped Robin's home from existence. In the present it would've happened again but Luffy saves the day once more. Happens again and again.

Nami is the mother of the sea, Imu is the mother of the earth? Hmmm.

Oda once teased Nami getting Enel's Fruit, so, I thought Uranus would require Enel's Fruit, and Nami would get it eventually. Still hoping she gets the Goro Goro, Nami would be so busted.

Likewise, Oda once said Zoro would get Kaido's Fruit if he ate a Fruit.

So... I want Zoro to kill Kaido, and have his sword "eat" Kaido's Fruit in the process, and become a Dragon Sword. YEAHHHHHHHH.

But, back to astro stuff, the more I think about it, Imu being the earth makes sense. This also connects back to the Skypieans worshipping vearth, including dirt from below, as holy objects...

No lol
The Moon has a much bigger significance, not just for Blackbeard
Also there is Crescent Moon & Full Moon, they don't represent the same thing

As for people thinking Luffy is The Sun & he gonna replace Earth (Imu)
Why do they follow the far-fetched Idea when we already have seen a Sun replacing an Earth that had Five Original Humans connected by it

Didn't Straw Hat Crew start with Five Members? Didn't they have an Original Ship that was replaced by a Ship called "Thousand Sunny"?!
Now let me ask you, Five Original Planets were named after:

God of Travel
God of Love
God of War
King of The Gods
God of Agriculture

Doesn't this remind you of Luffy? (King) Zoro? (War) Nami? (Travel) Usopp (Agriculture) & Sanji? (Love)
So we have Main's Story Original Five Planets & Going Merry represent their Earth which was later replaced by Thousand Sunny that represents The Sun, how many SHs did they Recruit "After" Thousand Sunny was built? Three ofc, they recruited Franky, Brook & Jinbe

So we also have our Three New Planets
That only leaves us with Robin & Chopper who apparently represent Full Moon & Crescent Moon

However, while it's Symbolic with SHs, in World Government side, it's Literal!
The Earth & Sun aren't represented by Characters, Gorosei are indeed the ones believed to rule the World (Earth)

But apparently they want "Earth" to be replaced by "Sun". The Literal Sun
Suggesting that there is a Kingdom inside the Sun & that's where Gorosei want WG to rule from
However, in doing so, they will end up abandoning Earth

Oda literally hinted at this Plot in almost every Arc
Enel wanted to Rule The Moon instead & he was gonna destroy Skypiea
Blackbeard wanted to take over WB's Territory & he was gonna destroy Marineford
Kaidou wanted to create New Onigashima & he was gonna destroy Wano Capital
Shiki in Film Strong World
Krieg replacing his Ship with Baratie
Kuro abandoning his Crew cuz he wanted to take over Kaya's Place
And many other examples

The Idea is that Villains wanna transition to a New Kingdom that suits them better & in doing so, they will abandon the old one.
Haven't you seen Ennies Lobby Sun? It's Permanant
It's obvious that WG Worship the Sun, it's no their Enemy, they even call themselves "Celestial Dragons"
You think they call themselves Celestial but don't dream of going beyond this Blue Planet?
You think they resemble Astronauts but only dream of living in some Castle on a Red Mountain?
Why do you think they want Lunarians?

The Sun isn't Luffy & Earth isn't Imu, they are the Literal Earth & Sun
And just like Gorosei worship The Sun, Three others named after Remaining Planets also worship The Sun or at least show Great Love for

Which leaves us with Full Moon & Crescent Moon
And just like Robin & Chopper did sail on Going Merry, but when it reached it's End, Chopper was still with them while Robin left
That means there are two others who are Ruling the World alongside Gorosei but when their Plan to change the World starts, one is gonna stand with them, while one is gonna abandon them

And just like Moon have Two Sides, this is someone who also has Two Sides & is ruling alongside Gorosei & that's none other than Imu.
Who i explained before means both Adam + Eve (Chopper ate Human DF hinting at Adam Role & Robin obviously represents Eve)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Conclusion:

Original Five SHs = Five Original Planets
Going Merry = Earth
Chopper = Earth's Full Moon (Adam)
Robin = Earth's Crescent Moon (Eve)
Three Last SHs = Three New Planets
Thousand Sunny = The Sun

This was a Foreshadowing for:

Gorosei = Five Original Planets
Imu = Full Moon & Crescent Moon (Two Persons in One)

Gorosei wants to replace "Earth" with "Sun"
Male Version of Imu will remain with Gorosei (Meaning he is Evil)
Female Version of Imu will Betray the Gorosei (Meaning She is Good)
