I would prefer Sanji actually improving as a fighter and not just get power ups out of the blue making him jump tiers so he can break swords with his neck.

He had a good thing going with his speed (should have learned and added Soru from Luffy), Geppou/Sky Walk and Diable Jambe.

If he could have added Rankyaku by watching Zoros 108 pound cannon and making his own long distance cutting technique with his legs + Black Leg Sanji learning top tier Black CoA from Vergo it would have been 10 times better.

Rankyaku doesn’t add anything to his kit so there’s no point to it. And all the monster trio gets power ups out of the blue. That’s how most shonen power up their characters.

Rankyaku would be one of the best and most necessary power ups for Sanji. Does he have any ranged attacks yet? He might be the only character at the level of a YC except Jozu that lacks ranged attacks.

You don’t need range when you’re that much faster than your opponent. Besides, why is range a necessity? Not like Luffy has any.

Well, if you dont understand why range is a great asset then I guess nobody can help you with that issue. I'd guess around 98 % of the posters here could explain the benefits to you if you ask kindly.

Luffy sure does have ranged attacks. He needs to connect with his fists in Gear 1-3, true, but he can literally stretch so he can attack an opponent 30 m away. In Gear 4 he can apply air pressure, in Gear 5 he can do whatever he wants even throwing lightning at his opponents.

And none of this helped with Kaido. Sanji doesn’t need range, he has speed and full mobility, people like Zoro need range because they’re mostly contained to the ground. Sanjis not.

Tempest kick would be pointless to sanji

You mean like how flying or mobile characters like Kizaru, Ace, Akainu, Kaido, Enel, Mihawk, Shanks and so on can't benefit from ranged attacks?

Or fishmen like Jinbei or Hody that are rapid under water can't benefit from ranged attacks?

And you mentioned all of these characters who most of them rarely used their range attacks in an actual fight. Hell shank actively jumped from Elbaf to Kids ship to show that range doesnt matter if you can get in close fast enough.

Did Jinbe use his range attacks in a serious fight? Did Hody?

No, you’re obsessing over something that doesn’t matter

If he has to fight someone then I'd prefer a VA even if Kaku was healthy

Zoan fights are whatever, Oda could give the VA's cool fruits that make their fighting styles more interesting
