We know that Shanks's best thing is haki and since in the games he uses attacks similar to Rogers (games who came out before of Roger vs Whitebeard), I think it's pretty fair to assume how Red hair fights.
ACoC isn't irrelevant, you can use It to imbue your sword and using and ACoC haki cutting slash like Oden does, or just throwing the ACoC haki beam like Roger does.
