The context however implies very heavily that sanjis body was broken. The fact that this is even a debate is ridiculous. There's an obvious answer. Don't overthink it.

We don't know how much pain he actually felt from this since his body behaves radically differently ever since his exoskeleton developed. However if you ask me it'd be even more of a chad move to be completely unphased by an attacked that supposedly "killed anyone who encountered it"
