Exceeded expectations.

Always knew he was going to be a top tier, but outright named as old gen monster trio and should to shoulder with Roger and Rayleigh wasn't the gas I had expected.

Power level wise, I had him probably at mid top tier in his prime earlier itself, that hadn't changed.
I think maybe I slightly upscaled him from being more comparable to new admirals, to more comparable to OG 3 admirals.

Feats vise, I expected Oda to give old Gaban more shine than what he got in the chapter. But there was still some respect portrayal vise, Luffy and Zoro acknowledged him as powerful enough to warrant a team up (i.e it's acknowledgement that he would require effort in 1v1, so might as well team up and finish this fast)

He's been great. Folks claimed he'd be irrelevant, but Oda didn't give that naming theme for nothing and it makes sense to build off the Roger Pirates with one more relevant member. Obviously we didn't see everything he has, but he showed great DC and reactions, not to mention having both Luffy and Zoro seriously come after him. Would be cool if there's more in store for him, but he seems to respect what Luffy seems capable of with his crew.

True but he's canonically an old legend. Iirc he's actually older than Garp he just had black hair pre timeskip

Not to mention his first few appearances were kinda clown esque. Seagull on his hat, feeding a goat, being made fun of by Garp, etc

He honestly didn't look that impressive till Marineford

Well he immediately gave up after gear 5 so... not really, he's about what I expected.

Luffy was in no way taking that fight seriously and he clearly wasn't expecting Scopper to be strong. In fact he didn't even attack him until gear 5, he was just trying to get the key.

1) scored with Ripley
2) Rat shanks was about to expose him for having girls all over him at every port
