Controversial Shanks encounter with Kidd did nothing positive for the story?

retreat where. shanks gave him an ultimatum. give me your ponegylph or we fight. even without that where was he gonna go, you dont just randomly travel in grandline thats why they have log pose. Even if he did retreat you guys would simply have said that he doesnt deserve coc or is a coward or something just like with greenbull. be straight up with me

The thing is, one piece moves at such a slow pace that it takes too long for us to see the payoff for certain things.
Kid vs Shanks was 1 year ago in the manga.
I think if this manga was over and you were binging it, you’d see Kid’s defeat in egghead and then move on to elbaf shortly after where you would probably see him bounce back.
But because Oda barely even puts out 3 chapters a month, the readers see Kid fail against shanks once in the manga, again in the anime, and we’re just left to sit on that until Oda wraps up this arc.

The one who started was Kid who wanted to kill everyone in sight, Shanks intervened to save his allies that's it; the poneglyph story came after Kid was already down.
Kid had to either confront Shanks or go away, instead he tried to use his ultimate attack on fodder which shows how stupid he is.
Oda could have made him tank or clash with Shanks but what's the point ?

Law saved Luffy in Marineford which was full of top tiers, was a former Shichibukai, part of a famous incident involving a former Rocks member and future Yonko, stalled an Admiral, destroyed the "Gears of the New World," singled out by BM as having dangerous attacks and begging him not to do it again, made Yonko commander Van Auger ask if they should retreat, etc.
Law has so many more Ws in story it's not even funny. This panel of him standing against Doffy and an Admiral after no-diffing a meteor alone solidifies his aura:
Kidd gets slandered because his feats are ASS and he has a terrible bark-but-no-bite personality
Not only that but he got DESTROYED by Shanks before he could even do anything. Neither Luffy nor Law has ever suffered such a humiliating defeat as 3 billion berry pirates. It is the same with Greenbull and wifi haki to a lesser extent btw
He has unlikable personality, mediocre fighting style, mediocre design, and feats that when compared to his peers like Luffy and Law, look like wet noodle. I don't say a lot of shit about him but his slander is 100% justified.
