Controversial Shanks encounter with Kidd did nothing positive for the story?

Law's PH run is unmatched for any Luffy ally including the SHs. Not only did Law defeat the strongest character on the island but Oda basically shit on a longstanding Luffy "rival" in Smoker through Law. That alone was huge at the time.

Taking some Ls is one thing, Kidd has no Ws aside from Big Mom, but even in that W, Law far outshined him. Law has Smoker, Vergo, Trebol, Hawkins, Big Mom wins, and his recent loss to BB was even respectable.

Even just taking into account all the key fights, figures, and events he took part in, he was damn near the Kakashi of One Piece.

I wouldn't say it's unmatched for the SHs tbh.

The one who started was Kid who wanted to kill everyone in sight, Shanks intervened to save his allies that's it; the poneglyph story came after Kid was already down.
Kid had to either confront Shanks or go away, instead he tried to use his ultimate attack on fodder which shows how stupid he is.
Oda could have made him tank or clash with Shanks but what's the point ?

Was he supposed to let them attack him until shanks pull up, i dont understand. this is like saying luffy kid and law should left the fodders alone on their way to fight kaido and big mom. I think people have a fixation to call no matter what kid does stupid when it doesnt work in his favor

law and BB got a bit more exposure for what its worth , even though it was also largely offscreened

I guess oda believes york and atlas deserve more panel time.
honestly he isnt one to spend a lot of time on plotlines that do not involve the strawhats .

Kidd thought he was him after being one third of the reason a yonko was defeated. Triple teamed with Law and Plot Bombs against an old hag way past her prime. Just goes to show that all your dreams can go right down the drain if you underestimate people. He challenged Shanks and got embrassed because of it.

Kidd vs Shanks was perfect, it ended just as it should've had, with a tremendous display of power from one of the strongest pirate against an arrogant idiot who didn't learn his lesson from the last time they've met.

There is no build-up ruined, Oda always portrayed Kid as arrogant, reckless and imprudent character and that did not change.

The problem is some of you thought Kidd was Sasuke when he has always been Kiba.

kid is not "arrogant" at all, considering that his attack would have wiped out the fleet exactly as planned if it weren't for the sneak attack. Trying to fight someone you lost to before isnt called being arrogant thats called having a fighters mentality, only losers just give up after losing once. All successful real life combat athletes have the personality of kid, this is a utopia manga where people like shanks can win but in real life people like shanks are just losers
