There's a difference between attacking people who are still heavily injured from a previous battle, and bringing your full force to fight against someone who has already started attacking your crew, and is challenging you head on.

By bringing his full force, Shanks is recognizing Kids strength,and that he's worthy of a real fight, unlike last time where Kid wasn't even worthy of seeing Shanks face.
