Bougya Shanks is a massive bum and I have spent years defending an illusion

What does this have to do with the FACT that when oda says sword skill /swordsmanship he's confirmed to be talking about haki on sword
Haki, devil fruits, special races, etc don’t effect whether or not someone is a swordsman

Using a sword in any way is technically swordsmanship but that doesn’t make one a swordsman aka Franky or king
You can be a swordsman and not have haki at all like Brook

We are not talking about confirmed mix martial artists with special genes and a Devil Fruit, we are talking about guys who more or less only use swords, no DF or special genes, and occassionally pulling out a gun like Teach or Doflamingo, heck even Kaido do, doesn't disqualify you, when you are said to be renowned for your swordsmanship or like in Shanks case, being Mihawk's rival, who takes honor in swordsmanship and would only accept someone as a rival who is serious about the art.

Xebec/Roger pulling a gun out on Imu/Shiki isn’t really comparable to any of those examples

It is. Guns are symbolic for execution. Xebec never seriously attempted to fight Imu, it was clear to him from the start that it will be pointless, it's not something he spontaneously realized when he met Imu's humanoid form in the flower room playing with butterflies. It was just a symbolic act of "here I am and I will come back prepared".

You are invested way too much in that panel. We know when Xebec actually fights strong guys, guys on par with him, he uses a sword - against Harald, against Roger and Garp. We know the same is true for Roger, who fought Xebec using a sword and did so against Whitebeard, even naming his son after his "beloved blade". Him having a pistol in strong world won't suddenly put him into another category.

Davy Back fights are games, Zoro was fighting bare handed and said it's fine by him. Obviously Xebec can fight in different ways, but so can Zoro? We have seen Zoro punching, kicking and using scythes. It doesn't change that Xebec was seen with a sword against his fiercest competitors and is renowned for his swordsmanship. Oda highlighted that. Oda didn't say "Xebec is renowned for being a master of different arts/fighting styles/weapons", but of swordsmanship.

Why do I see a lot here bringing this argument these days ???

Xebec died 38 years ago. Mihawk was barely 5 at this time. So Mihawk actually holding the WSS title now doesn't mean he's stronger than Xebec.
Mihawk having this title just means he's the current strongest swordsman. Not stronger than every swordsman who exist in the past.
I keep wondering same
His title doesnt apply to people who were out of the picture before he got it

its actually sad the levels you stoop to

his sons ship is called saber of xebec
He had a dedicated narrator box for his swordmanship

stop being shameless.

Against NOTHING TO DO WITH MY POINT DUMBASS
Haki isn’t swordsmanship. You can be a swordsman with or without haki
All haki does is boost your fighting style

Again all it took was a single punch from king not his lunarian or devil fruit powers. King was even able to give zoro a sword duel without being a swordsman himself.

Being skilled with a sword doesn’t limit you into being just a swordsman. Same way being good with a gun doesn’t limit you into being just a sniper
Also let’s not pretend like oda hasn’t left room for shanks to be strong even outside of his sword

That particular game was the Donut Race, where any weapon is allowed. Xebec could’ve used his sword to sink that ship, but chose the gun. The game Zoro played in explicitly forbade weapons

The difference between Zoro and Xebec is that we’ve seen more than enough from Zoro to know that his fighting style is nothing but swordsmanship (he only throws punches if he’s up against total fodders or has no choice). Xebec is basically a blank slate. The only actual serious attack we’ve seen from him on-screen was the Harald clash. The narrator explaining his swordsmanship when he hit Loki is because that’s the weapon he used, there was no reason to talk about his hypothetical marksmanship or axemanship. It doesn’t prove or disprove that swordsmanship is all Xebec has
